Yep, looks like PR is on the way out or at least isn't as important as it was a few years ago. Last year Matt Cutts said: “We crawl roughly in the order of PageRank, that means the more PageRank you have the faster you are likely to be found and more deeply we crawl your site and more often we visit your pages if they have been refreshed.”

As we know only too well, a year can be a long time in SEO.. so things might be different now, but even this statement might not be completely true.. and (again) I'm guessing the crawl rate can be temporarily influenced by Pubhubsubbub - but I haven't tested that theory yet.

Google are looking at social media sites like they are looking at forums, newswires and blogs to see if a brand/site is being discussed, so I'm guessing there's some truth that the number of tweets might play a (small) role in ranking.

With anchor text, in my tests I've found it best to vary the keywords (other SEO's might have different results) because having 100% targeted anchor text looks unatural.. but that's just in my experience. I've got better results from mixing things up a bit compared to 100% targeted anchor text.

Are you seeing similar results?

Great article Avraam, I have a little experience with BuySellAds..

They declined RINF into their network on the grounds that we have too much traffic.

They only accept sites with less than 100,000 visitors a month. Shame because I would love to report on the earnings potential.

An alternative for high traffic publishers could be TribalFusion as they only accept sites that have at least 60,000 visitors a month.

'All in One' is a really good Plugin and I've used it for a couple of years before moving to 'Platinum SEO Pack'.

Good question.. one thing I'd look at Jerry, is the backlink frequency.. how quickly are you adding backlinks.. and how quickly are they disappearing.

It's hard to predict what's causing the problem without looking through your site and the link profile (at least, what can be found publicly).

Google say that PR doesn't influence rank.. I know that's up for debate.

I'd say your best bet, if you do want to increase your PR is to update on a regular basis, with original content (no spun articles), don't link to spammy sites, and put the interest of your readership above all else - even Google.

Yep it's good for increasing brand awareness but the CTR of videos seem quiet low.
