"It appears to be an expensive end-of-summer prank"... Seriously? C'mon KY3, are you for real? Stealing five grand worth of go karts is hardly a prank.

KY3 : Billboard criticizing President Obama near Ozark, MO creates controversy | KY3 News, Weather, Sports

How is this billboard an example of slander? I don't see any false accusations that are damaging this president's already lousy reputation. We can agree on one thing: We all need to pay down our debts, including our national debt. For somebody that is concerned with this, I would think that you would have a problem with Obama so drastically increasing the deficit. I know Bush increased it as well, but does that make it okay for Obama to spend so recklessly? Aren't we all sick of the blame game by now? I just want somebody in there with some common sense and the ability to understand basic economics.

I just pray that the two years of counseling will be paid for by the woman herself and not with our hard earned tax dollars (whether it is medicaid, medicare, etc). Let's say that the sessions are $90 a pop. Two years would be 104 sessions. That would total $9,360. I agree that two years seems excessive. Maybe a few months jail time and a few months counseling would have been more appropriate. I know if this person's dog had killed my beloved pet, I would be hoping for a more severe punishment.

KY3 : Marriage statistics might be divorced from reality | KY3 News, Weather, Sports - Springfield, MO| Lo

Are we reading the same news story? Nowhere in the article did it state that people should not work in high school or college. Are you getting the point of this article? The point is that marriages have a better chance of success if you do things in a certain order: 1) Complete school/job training. 2) Get a decent job. 3) Grow up and mature a little. 4) Get married and have kids.

You are right: marriages do fail for a number of reasons. The number one cause of divorce in North America is money problems. What is the best way to ensure that you will have money problems? Get married very young and have a baby immediately before you get your education/career figured out. Another big cause of divorce is people getting married before they are mature enough to handle the stresses that will be coming their way. I got married at 29, after finishing my training and getting my career started. Thank God I did not marry before this. Looking back, if I had married a couple of my early girlfriends, it would have ended in disaster. I was way too immature. This is not to say that some people are not mature enough to get married young before college/career, but for the most part you will have the best chance of success if you achieve these other things first. To say that this is hog wash sounds silly to me.

mobmp, something else you said is rubbing me the wrong way. What difference does it make if these tax dollars are being collected from out of town, out of state, or even from right here in Springfield? If the money is being misused, some taxpayer somewhere is getting ripped off. Do you ever travel? Does anybody in your family ever travel? How would you like to stay in a strange town and have some of your money flushed down a rat hole? That's some short sighted and parochial thinking in my opinion.

25 years? Which Springfield Mo are you living in? And to assume that I have never stayed in any motels in Springfield? You must think you know me or something. FYI I have stayed in motels on the rare occasion here in town (during the last ice storm and to celebrate a special occasion a time or two), not to mention my family has stayed in motels here in town when they have come to visit. Perhaps you should follow your own advice and think before YOU comment.

Another shining example of our hard earned tax dollars being used in an extremely questionable manner. Three years to "renovate" an almost brand new facility? The museum was beautiful to begin with. Why would it take three years and God knows how many more tax dollars to "fix" this place up?

Oh yes, the good old argument that pit bulls are good dogs and any dog can be a bad dog. Oh and by the way, even cats and birds can attack people! Should we kill all birds and cats? Your logic is silly. Never mind the fact that a pit bull can kill a little kid in about two seconds flat and that they seem to be prone to attack kids, adults, and other dogs. Give me a break. You probably have a toddler and a pit bull and think it's cute when they snuggle up in front of the TV.
