Good point, WW. ... I\\\'m not sure where the checkbox for \\\"subscribe to these comments by email\\\" went. So — I added the Intense Debate plug-in. It has that feature. But may end up too boggy to keep. For all POSTS click the orange RSS box in the right hand navigation.

Gymnastics Coaching.com : arm action - forward layout salto

Not that it's "easy" to develop and keep healthy a super talented elite gymnast, ... but I'd agree that I admire more a coach who can get many girls of different body types College scholarships. John Geddert jumps to mind as a coach who given the same athlete, the same amount of training time, will get a better result than almost any other coach.

Yup. Me too, Geoffrey. Absolutely in the learning stages of forward twisting. ... putting it on Floor I only do pike open twist drills with kids that are twisting too early, though.

Gymnastics Coaching.com : Sean Golden on

When I watched Andrei emphasizing the "hollow" take off at training camps with many girls from many clubs ... I found it did not work for most. In a perfect world, with great kids, this is a super technicque. In the real world, with real kids, the problem long term with that skill is that kids twist TOO EARLY. All my drills emphasize getting into the arched position as quickly as possible. Twisting as late as possible. I find that if I do my drills, the skill will eventually end up as discussed in the drill. It's easy to get kids to twist earlier. It's easy to get them to take off in a more hollow position, ... if you train a lot of arched layouts first. There are many roads to arrive at the same place.

Gymnastics Coaching.com : Madrid 28, Rio 26, Tokyo 22, Chicago 18

It won't be easy for Rio. But I agree that the process will be helpful overall for the long term development of Brazil and all of South America. Chicago was the best bid. But Rio was second best. And close.
