You can just edit the appropriate .less file. There's actually a file called variables.less that contains many color variables to easily change stuff like this.

Yah it's probably something we would need series of blog posts to cover as this is quite a complex subject. But your right this is an important topic, and something that is often ignored by many web developers. Just optimizing the MySQL database alone can produce HUGE speed improvements. Quick tip regarding that: https://github.com/rackerhacker/MySQLTuner-perl

Early versions of RokBooster had a few issues with 3rd party extensions. RokBooster has come along way since then. Optimal performance is obtained when 3rd party extensions use the Joomla API to add CSS and JS, but we now even scan the page, and will pull out CSS and JS that was inserted directly into the output of a module or component. This was what caused most of the problems in the earlier versions. There is nothing RocketTheme specific on RokBooster, it works well with a wide variety of extensions. It's definitely the most sophisticated and powerful CSS/JS compressor available. As Henning says, you can always exclude any troublesome 3rd party scripts or css.

Pelle, we did provide all the pertinent information. There's really not much to it. As we stated in the blog post: Joomla cache enabled, Joomla GZip on, RokBooster enabled, then there's a few .htaccess things as provided. Really the bulk of the improvements are provided by RokBooster.

Yes just create a custom HTML module. You might need to turn off your WYSIWYG editor though as those often strip tags.
