The argument of self-policing sounds good in theory but the problem is too many ppl. do not take responsibility for themselves. Natural Law does not exist much in our society anymore, and without Natural Law, many of the Libertarian views just won't work.

By far, the biggest factor in turning to (mainly) China for manufacturing is labor costs, not pollution regulation. We own a manufacturing business and meeting pollution regs. is not difficult and is a small factor of our overall cost. Labor cost is 10 times larger here than in China. We can blame unions for that.

Your concern about homeschooled kids being socially well-adjusted is very common, but unfounded. Yes, there are a few out there like you describe, but you'll find those types of kids in public school as well! When people meet my children, more often than not, they go out of there way to tell me how polite, mature and friendly they are. In addition, we teach our children to make direct eye contact when speaking to anyone and all adults have a title (Uncle Matt, Dr. Jones, Mr. Atticusdude, etc.) It's all about respect, for themselves and for others! They also get plenty of social time with kids their age via swimteam, horse riding, and just playing with neighbor kids. Aaaahhh, it's good to be a kid!

I homeschool my children, mainly because I think public education is failing abysmally......Initially I was going to say that I'm "fortunate" that I can homeschool - that my husband earns enough to allow me to stay home, be a mom, teacher, wife....... But, y'know, I'm not "fortunate"! It's our CHOICE! We live within our means so that we can do this! I'm tired of hearing that ppl. cannot make it without 2 incomes....I'm sure it's true a little bit, but I know many ppl. who live like we do (with less!) so mom can be at home. But I know more ppl. who have 2 incomes so they can live in the "such & such" subdivision, or drive a new car each year, etc. Of course that's not the reason they give for 2 jobs. Their reason is "to make ends meet". ____And to those who say their states won't allow it....if you REALLY want to homeschool, then make it your mission to change that law or move to a different state.__

I agree.....I'm tired of the slackers and whiners! But what we're fighting here is a mindset - the entitlement mindset. And there are 2 groups of ppl. who have this - the "underprivileged" who voted O-man in and the next generation who is (and I know there are exceptions) preoccupied in their narcissistic world. The next generation might not be thinking about healthcare right now, but they will and they will expect it for nothing.

That is SO TRUE! My friends and family who voted for him refuse to even LOOK!!!! They are so stubborn in their need to stand by their decision, or be right, or whatever their reasoning is, that they won't even listen or look at what is happening! I'm trying to figure out how to get through to these people. I really believe this is about pride and their need to not be wrong, because I just don't see how any sane person can see this and not be scared!

Where are you reading about it being illegal to chose any private health care? I have a copy of the bill (it's practically Greek to me) I've looked on page 16, but don't understand so I may be reading the wrong section. My page 16 references section 132 and then section 2720. I think it is likely I just don't understand what I'm reading.....does anyone really understand this stuff?!?!? : )

Kon...you kinda have a point, but as I stated in another post, American's cannot manufacture things at as low a cost as china because of unions and our own govt. interference (both drive up costs) and the fact that the Chinese govt. subsidizes everything! Nice try, but we simply need LESS GOVT!!!!
