Almost a decade ago I broke my leg in the backcountry skiing with Mr. Priem (yes, he doesn't always ski alone). We we're 5 mi from Wolf Creek Pass on Treasure Mountain and his radio raised Fred in Pagosa Springs who contacted the Wolf Creek Ski Area to launch a rescue. The incident happen at 1pm and I was on my way in an ambulance by 5pm. Technology sometimes works and old technology is sometimes better.
