Big Government : Obama Forcing Private Companies to Have Board Votes on Illegal Policy

I feel for you. Such mandates are ruining small business in America. Of course, if you try to do it on your own, and your local sheriff does not understand that his job (as an oath swearer to the Constitution) is to protect your property from usurpation by the Feds, then, you will most likely suffer the consequences. That was why I suggested that anyone in any such situation must first educate their sheriff to what is going on. Over 100 sheriffs and police chiefs had their first meeting last month in Las Vegas. Google the videos and see what they have to say. These sheriffs have gone head to head with the EPA and the EPA has backed down.

In his mind, and the minds of his followers, he is a Ruler, not a Servant. His recess appointments made that abundantly clear. I'm with Cowboy Logic on this one. People just need to go ahead and use their land and property as they see fit. Get the local sheriff to join the newly formed Constitutional Sheriff and Peace Officers Association. The EPA or any federal agency acting in contravention to the Constitution should be met by local law enforcement and threatened with arrest for illegal acts against the rights of the people.

The Constitution does not say "The right of the people to keep and bare arms, except for felons". The 1968 CGA is the result of an international treaty. Congress is not allowed to make laws in direct contravention to the US Constitution. The 1968 CGA is an illegal treaty.

Big Government : Why Many Young People Love Ron Paul and Why Many Older People Despise Him

No...I am defending the Constitution and the limits placed upon the federal government under article 1, section 8. It is not the government's job to nanny everyone into submission. More conscious than you shall ever be, unless of course, you grow up and do some research, embrace your liberty and learn that you, and only you, are responsible for your life, just as those around us are also responsible for their own life. So, yes, grow up.

The federal government does not have a "right" to do anything. Rights are reserved for People. The government has been granted certain enumerated powers by the States and the People. The 18th Amendment made alcohol illegal in 1921. The 22nd amendment made it legal again. There's a reason there had to be a Constitutional amendment to outlaw alcohol. The current so-called "war on drugs" is due to a 1972 international treaty on controlled substances. Congress is only allowed to sign treaties with foreign nations that are in compliance with the Constitution. This treaty is illegal. The commerce clause (you are using for your argument) was never meant as a means to actually control commerce among the several states. I was for "regulating" commerce, in other words, to make regular. Please read some of the ratification documents and the thoughts of those who actually crafted and ratified the Constitution. You are sorely lacking in Constitutional knowledge. Please don't cast stones at those of us who actually have read the Federalist Papers, as well as the letters and related documentation formulated by the ratifiers. Idiot.

And who made you God, or those you support? What part of the Constitution givesyou, or anyone else, the authority to decide what people should ingest? What's the next step for people like you who think they have a say in how anyone else lives their life? What foods we eat? Oh wait...it is the non-constitutionalist government that is now saying that people do not have the right to drink raw milk. Jeez...such hubris. The problem with other people thinking they can tell me, or anyone else, how to live their life it that those who think they know best, are more screwed up than those they are trying to control. If someone uses drugs and infringes on the life, liberty, or property of someone else...then, they are culpable, not for doing drugs, but for infringing on someone else's liberties. You, billyb9, do not understand personal liberty or morality. Be quiet. Shush...your elders are speaking. (jk. you have the right to an opinion. just try to keep the stupid ones between you and your porno sessions.)

Fail. Ron Paul has simply stated that the Constitution does not authorize the federal government to criminalize drugs. It took the 18th amendment to criminalize alcohol and the 22nd to negate the 18th. So, where in the Amendments to the Constitution, does Congress have the power to criminalize drugs? Do some research. He has said it is a State issue. By the way, look up the drug statistics for Portugal. Drug use is down, despite legalization of almost all drugs. Pin head.

I went to the Lyon County NV caucus this morning. It is my second caucus. I went to the 2008 caucus as well. I could not be a delegate last time, as the county meeting conflicted with my travel schedule. This time, I decided I would simply make the time. I am now the captain for the 18th precinct and also, a delegate for the 18th precinct. I will be traveling to the county seat on March 3rd, to vote for state delegates. I plan on submitting my name for that position as well. I do believe I will go to the state Republican convention as a county delegate, since I know what I am all about and am not afraid to take on responsibility. Most of the caucus goers just wanted to cast a ballot and leave. Not too many wanted to go much further than that.

Actually, the Shah was taken out of power by the democratically elected parliament, so, his return to power, with the help of the CIA was a coup perpetrated by the US and big oil companies. If YOU would do some research, you would find that the Anglo-Iranian Oil Company was a shell company owned by the Rockefeller family. http://www.bibliotecapleyades.net/sociopolitica/s... http://voiceofmoorecounty.com/2011/02/11/history-... You have to be able to research a little deeper than just what you read on Wiki. Indeed.

Shapiro needs to do a little more research. We ousted the democratically elected government of Iran in 1953 at the urging of Standard Oil Company and placed the Shah of Iran into power. The first act of war was our covert operations on behalf of Standard Oil Company to protect their oil field equipment and developed wells. I am not agreeing or disagreeing with current policy, but the author of any so-called expose should provide all relevant facts and not cherry pick the only facts that support his contention. People can say all day that we needed the oil and that we were protecting our "national interest", but in reality, business is about gauging potential loss and profit. It is not the responsibility of the American tax payer to come to the rescue of a private corporation for investing unwisely. Another thing to keep in mind is that in the early '50's the USA was the largest exporter of petroleum products in the world, and also was responsible for 55 percent of all finished/manufactured goods, so the argument that we "needed to protect our interests" is baloney.

I bought the Walther PPK -S .380 for my ex wife. When we got divorced, she gave it to a friend. I called her and asked if she was completely crazy. I went to the friend's house and told him to give the pistol to me. Heck...one of the best guns I ever bought and she gave it to some guy who had never shot a pistol in his life. I hope more Americans purchase guns, buy ammo and learn to shoot. Nobody is responsible for your life, or the life of your loved ones, except for you.

Big Government : California’s Condom Mandate: New Ballot Initiative Targets Adult Film Industry

Um....Michelle (author of this poorly written piece), we do not live in a "democracy" which is another word for "mob rule". We live in a supposed constitutional republic. In our system of government (the one we are SUPPOSED to have) a majority cannot legislate away ANYONE'S natural rights. I think you need to be schooled in what the term "natural rights" means. It is because of blather (like your article) that people believe they actually do have the power and the "right" to usurp another person's natural rights. Geez.

I think the libertarian movement in the sixties and seventies was a quite different affair than it is now. There were many intellectually stunted anarchists in that era. I believe the newer Libertarian movement is based upon free trade, capitalism, peace through strength and a desire to live and let live. Reason TV and many other new media outlets are chock full of new Libertarians.

In answer to your not agreeing to people having free access to any substance they wish, I think this quote says it most succinctly: Individual rights are not subject to a public vote; a majority has no right to vote away the rights of a minority; the political function of rights is precisely to protect minorities from oppression by majorities. — Ayn Rand The Federal Government (or the General Government as the Founders were fond of writing) only has the powers enumerated in Article 1, Section 8. There are about 20 of them. National control of what people ingest, how they live, how they teach their children, where they live and how they comport their life is NOT enumerated in the Constitution. I never wrote that we should scale back our military or that I believed we did not need a strong MILITARY. We do need a strong military, but we should be wary of a strong OFFENSIVE military. As to people attacking us because of our freedoms, I have covered that quite a bit above and there are many more instances of how our freedoms are rapidly being taken from us. Before 1934, anyone (anyone) could order a bazooka, machine gun or mortar from SEARS ROEBUCK. Did we have people running around killing other people with machine guns? Yep...they were alcohol cartels. Now we have people running around with machine guns killing people and they are...drug cartels. Sorry to digress. If our enemies hated us and attacked us for our freedoms, why do they not attack the Swiss? Why do they not attack the Swedes? Why do they not attack Singapore? The argument that we are being attacked for our freedoms is straw man argument.
