Ask not what you can do for your country, ask whether your country can forgive your debt, give you a tax break, pay for your education, etc., etc., etc. I guess you folks didn't hear the part about SERVICE, when Barack said you'd get some goodies. I went to school on the G.I. Bill, part time work and a few small loans. I don't own a house and never have. I don't have a digital T.V. or cable. I've always lived close to work so that I could walk or take the bus. I don't own a car, much less an S.U.V. I buy books at used book stores and some of my clothes are from the thrift store. My kids went to college on grants, part time work and whatever help I could give them. All this happened BEFORE our current financial meltdown.

Just because the Republicans ripped us all off because we were too busy watching Dancing With The Stars and Judge Judy, instead of realizing that the most important job in government is CITIZEN, doesn't mean that now it's OUR turn for a free lunch. Instead of whining, how about exploring ways of earning what you get through service and/or work and thrift?

I'm doing fine. I worry about my kids and the mess they are going to inherit. I worry about the worlds "last best hope", as I don't see any other country replacing the U.S. either by example (yes, George Bush notwithstanding) or active engagement. So not to put any undue pressure on you or anything Mr. President-elect, but I guess we are all counting on you to save the good 'ol U.S. of A. and the rest of the world. I actually think you can do it...with a little help from your friends of course.
