Thursday, May 14 a correction was issued stating county manager is NOT recommending any pay raises!

What is up with MomOf1Grt1 obviously has a beef with the health and social service director. Oh by the way they did not get a raise it was published in the paper that NO county employees will be getting any raises this year. And if her mother can make more working for another county then why stay. I'm just glad to have a job and will not complain over a furlough day. Will make the adjustment just like all of the other hard working people in rowan county.

Janet Dennis need to get a life. She has too much time on her hands. Maybe she would like to voluteer at DSS and see what really goes on.

I understand that Social Services has almost 200 employees making it the largest department in the county. Can you image that many people you are responsible for. I think Mrs. Wilkes deserves every penny. I am sure she puts in 40+ hours a week. On call 24/7 even on vacation days and sick days. Most people don't take that into consideration they just see the money amount. As for the person who has a disabled friend who had to wait 5 months to get food stamps. Could this person failed to turned in all of her paperwork on time? Obviously she has too much income she only receives $14.00 a month. Be thankful for the $14.00. As for the health fair the vendors that participated are not paid by the county to come. The only thing that may have cost money is the bag that they gave away and one piece of fruit. If you thought it was a waste why did you go? Some people just like to complain about EVERYTHING. Oh the prizes could they have been donated. Probably.
