Daily Camera.com: : Boulder sheriff: Planned protest to shut down U.S. 36 today a \'no-win situation\' - Boulder Daily C

In what might be truly a case of misplaced anger, I just saw some yuppies protesters with their hands behind their backs in objection to black criminals who refuse to cooperate with white law enforcement officers. Chanting "I'm under arrest", the group appeared to be headed toward the Social Security office to block the line from forming there. It's on.

Daily Camera.com: : Boulder Public Library seeks public input on renovation of main branch - Boulder Daily Camera

Maybe add a discreet area for R&R...you know, for all the people who are just tired from reading and working so hard. This would be a special place that they can fraternize, blow off of some steam, chat on the cell phone, or even sleep...among other things. I imagine it would be a warm place and have access to water. Ventilation might be nice...just for more oxygen to promote alertness so one could get back to something productive in short order. Maybe a concierge could even invite people to the relaxation room when they look like they need a recharge.

Daily Camera.com: : Mitt Romney comes on strong against President Obama in University of Denver Debate - Boulder Daily C

What stood out to me was that the President could hardly keep eye contact with the viewers...or anyone else. Enter non-verbal communications experts... And Romney's performance actually inspired me enough to perform social suicide in Boulder...I may actually try to get a Romney yard sign for my yard. Forget all the ads...hearing these two hammer the facts and issues made the choice clear. I'll certainly be hearing about it from all those who are so enlightened that they didn't need to watch the debate.

Daily Camera.com: : Guest opinion: For Mother\'s Day, stop war on women - Boulder Daily Camera

Some fair, and even good points raised...but "war on women"...really? This kind of hyperbole only leads to the divisive politics that leaves none of us better off (woman or man). We should be talking about the "war on common sense", "war on compromise", or "war on compassion" in the halls of our capitols. Got a love it when an elected official likes this starts pointing at the other party...as if either of these parties are our answer.

Daily Camera.com: : Boulder: Heaven for the homeless, or a town that\'s short on services? - Boulder Daily Camera

Why is this so hard. Why do we keep trying to put these services in nice neighborhoods or in areas close to downtown and retail businesses. Why do we just keep talking about what these few people need instead of what the larger community needs. Yes...we need to provide resources to serve the poor...but can't we just find some space in East Boulder on our on the fringes...industrial areas...or city/county facilities? North Boulder...including near north Boulder have been taking way too much of the broader "social service" load. And having these people on every street corner is just too much. Let's give them what they need in a orderly fashion....without attracting others here.

Daily Camera.com: : Video: Boulder neighbors hold memorial for 50-year-old tree - Boulder Daily Camera

The scary part is that this lady is not alone. What is up with some of these Boulder people who love to judge people who build new homes...most of which are now quite energy efficient and more sustainable with a longer life expectancy. They get all high and mighty from their energy in-effiicient pop-tops and bemoan "scrapes", without the slightest knowledge of what was displaced to make way for their abode. I suspect if one had a memorial service for human lives lost in the name of "personal gain" or "progress" as she laments, many of these self-professed "guardians" would be hard to find.

Daily Camera.com: : After years of setbacks, new push for north Boulder library branch - Boulder Daily Camera

I live in NoBo and don't need a new library....just let me use the one downtown! ....but now I can't, that place is a joke with all the homeless issues in there. I try to go once a year, thinking '"someone must have gotten a handle on the problem by now", only to find it worse every time.

Daily Camera.com: : Boulder proposes closing city parks, open space at night - Boulder Daily Camera

We should close the library during the day too. I was in there yesterday and had to move 4 times...and still couldn't escape the booze and pot induced mumbling, profanity, and smell. When I walked in, there was a guy sharing a giant bag of weed on the bench outside. And when I walked through the bridge on the way out at 4pm LITERALLY every single person (12) in there was homeless. Finally, upon exiting I see a guy actually trying to light a joint he just rolled. The homeless have effectively closed some of our public spaces already. Why can't we find a place for them to go. There has to be some other City property that can provide what they need (heat, bathroom, protection from wind, water, etc.) that doesn't otherwise impede the ability of the tax payers to use and enjoy the City services and amenities. You can't tell me there is not a City garage, plant, or administrative building that can't take some of these people. Oh, but that might get in the way of their work and/or their enjoyment.

And the votes that pushed them over the top undoubtedly came from students who think this sounds like a great idea, but who won't be here to bear the consequences.
Hard to believe. Maybe we should turn up the heat on where/when dogs are allowed. It just seems that if someone has an animal on a leash that they trump any other user in or outside of town around here. Having to drive in order to mountain bike in this town in nuts.

Let me see if I get this: getting mountain bikers safer access to the few trails there are (and off the roads where they can get pushed off by cars); OR, providing even more space to dogs, many of whom push me and my kids off trails by running up and trying to lick, jump, or sniff us.
When an animal is in a place for any length of time, I wish they would do reverse 911 calls so that some of us wouldn't send our kids or pets running out among some of these fenced back yards. It amazes me they don't alert the neighborhood now because they don't want to promote a bunch of gawkers that might upset the animal. Don't we want to upset them right back into the mountains?
