I think it will really help the pacing of the show by getting rid of the extraneous content. A lot of story arcs really went on too long, such as the infamous Frieza arc on Namek. I'm looking forward to how much things change.
They haven't said any real details about the controller, but it should be pretty solid with DJ equipment manufacturer Numark making it. Scratch is set to appear on PS3, 360, and Wii, so hopefully it'll be fully featured like Rock Band and Guitar Hero.
Recent details have been somewhat scarce, but it looks like the turntable and cross-fader is where Scratch will break away from other music/rhythm games. Being able to freestyle like real DJs will allow more creative freedom in playing songs. The game apparently supports standard controllers as well, which may be comparable in gameplay to older titles like Harmonix's Frequency or Amplitude.
Lynyrd Skynyrd may be one of the most hardest/misspelled band names, but I would hope they would at least look it up before posting official box art. Though I suppose they can take solace in that a lot of people have problem spelling it as well.
Though it's only a minor mistake, I'm wondering how embarrassed the cover artist must be to have been caught making such an error. At least it didn't make it to print before the internet made an uproar.
There is certainly potential for this game. I'm leery about DJ Hero because of Activision's track record, but at least Scratch has some solid people developing both the hardware and software.
I'm glad Rock Band 2 is finally coming to the Wii and PS2, but I'm disappointed it's coming a little late to the party. Coming so close to Christmas, it will probably have little effect in terms of sales when Guitar Hero World Tour has been readily available. But at least the Wii version will no longer be gimped.
