I also fault myself for not taking into consideration that question when I clarified the exact location of the report that you may not be willing to read such a document. Here is my summary. This link and the report I referred to contain information on people in your area that risk their lives for no other reason to help people they have never met before. The single reward is the feeling they saved someone and returned them to their family or got them the help they needed. In the worst case recover and return a body to a family. In return they receive no pay, no public recognition, no gold stars, or parades in their honor. The very least you could do is sit on your couch in the warmth of your house and read about them and the situations they put themselves in for the sake of public safety.
