Boulder Humane has a great vision. But like so many things in Boulder, they seem to want to be "the best," while excluding and even looking down on other, similar agencies. I spoke with a trainer recently who made the point that Boulder Humane was acting a little like a puppy mill. Moving that many dogs through is too much, and time might be better spent taking Boulder's excellent staff and policies and finding a way to REALLY help other shelters implement them. Some of HSBV's pups are so under socialized that Boulder Humane keeps the circle going--and this means income for them in terms of training and such. I'd like to hear from HSBV to know if they maybe ARE doing some outreach like this already. I'll remain optimistic and assume they are doing some trainings for the shelters they take dogs from.
