Uhh, on the UCD one you just sent me a list of people, not their opinions, or else I failed to find it. I don't buy the increased chance of disease, keeping animals close together promotes more disease then letting them roam. Also, all this bullshit about getting diary from mexico and other states I don't buy. The reality is, the entire country is watching california, and will likely respond with similar legislation. As for that small time cage-free farmer: tough. That's a sad story, but it doesn't mean the change isn't for the better. They have till 2015 to get bigger cages. Big fuckin' deal.

I think this is a very good discussion. Definitely the coming century is going to be very much a sink or swim kind of atmosphere, esp. with climate change. Look at the 20th century, holy shit, we barely made it through that one. I really wish we could get more funding on space exploration, and fuckin' OCEAN EXPLORATION, we don't even know most of the shit on our OWN planet, but until we get into some national security threat race with another superpower, I don't see it happening anytime soon. China, I'M TALKIN' TO YOU. This also reminds me of the Kardashev scale. It would be so awesome if we could reach a full sustainable type I civilization. But until we do that, I see space elevators and other solar systems being a long way off. Last thought: I like how you tagged this life hahah. I made that tag intending to refer to someone's personal life, but this definitely falls into the category of life in the biggest picture sense.
