There is no stocking stuffing here. A few Democractic senators (Ben Nelson of Nebraska being the formost) got a bit more for their states with the health care bill, but the amounts are totally insignificant and have no true impact on any other state. I disagree with the last comment. Congress has been working on this for months. It would not have taken until Christmas to get it passed if the Republicans had actually participated in the process rather than obstructing it. This is not, by any means, the best bill that we could get, but it is a bill and it does provide for a new era of change in health care. If it had been defeated, the promised new day from Republicans would never have materialized. Was it rushed? Yes and no. More time, and that will be available through the House-Senate conference committee, would probably have provided a better bill - with more for the millions who need help with health care, but more time would also have provided a forum for more lies and distortions about what is involved and would have slowed, if not stopped, the momentum for help and reform. I am not satisfied with the bill, but doing something is a big first step and it is a great Christmas gift to all of us.
