actually, the world of the lorax put on screen with the subtleness of Totoro would have been a great way to treat the source material. How great would a Dr. Suess movie be where we just get to really stretch our legs in the brilliantly realised world of the Lorax. Instead, I feel the need to include "Big Bads" and a whole romance subplot really bogged down any promise a Lorax movie had. It just feels like needless padding.

Porco Rosso is the one no body ever mentions by Miyazaki, but I agree that it's his best film. Michael Keaton also gave a great performance in the title role. I seem to remember Miyazaki saying in an interview that Porco Rosso was his most personal film. It certainly comes off that way, and I think that's when he's at his best.

Thor was enjoyable, and I honestly think the Hulk was too, although it had many more obvious flaws. I disliked how Marvel screwed over Edward Norton. Every piece of the Avengers puzzle looks great except for Marvel. They've made some pretty lousy decisions in the past when they decide to muck around with a movie. They're much better when they leave it up to the directors.

It sure seems boneheaded that they would put this show on network tv, though. Either the source material becomes neutered beyond the point of recognition, or the violent, disgusting nature of the protagonist will almost surely alienate a lot of mainstream viewers. It smacks of desperation, but then, that's nothing really new for NBC.

I'm sorry I'm just not buying any of BH's angle on this story. The original Fox clip is not a "perfectly valid discussion about culture. I'm assuming they hadn't seen the movie, judging from the way they spoke of it, and the Media Research guy likened the movie's message to Syrianna....SYRIANNA. It's a flat out lie to say the movie condemned the oil industry. It's a flat out lie to say the movie spoke out against capitalism; I'd argue the movie PROMOTES capitalism. The muppets decide to provide a service again (entertainment) and raise money. This whole situation just seems so reactionary on both sides. I certainly don't think Fox News is an evil channel, and I'll admit I rolled my eyes at the fox news cut. But the constant slamming and misinformation on this site is ridiculous. The Muppets Movie has been a big success for Disney and a succesful revival of the brand. The box office for the Muppets doubled it's production budget and (when adjusted for inflation) is the most succesful the franchise has been since1981. http://boxofficemojo.com/franchises/chart/?id=mup... Could it have done better without all this kerfuffle? I don't know, and I don't think there's evidence to show it has. I really like Big Hollywood, but this kind of partisan rallying just kind of bums me out. I dunno.

Yeah, I thought Thor and Captain America were both very good, certainly better than Iron Man 2. The only part I'm inclined to agree on was that Norton was a much better choice as Bruce Banner than Mark Ruffalo.

I believe that's what the article was referencing. It's not Wallace and Gromite film, though it is made by the same studio, Ardman, called "Pirates!" It was a silly little throwaway sight gag, I couldn't believe such a fuss had been made about it.

If I remember correctly, Lucas didn't direct or write The Empire Strikes Back, but he didn't have any problem adding an awful line ("NOOOOOOO!!") to one of the entire franchise' most memorable and impactful scenes. He seems to embody the idea of the clumsy studio making arbitrary decisions that hurt the movie.; but I guess it's okay when he does it.

I would argue that the Simpsons had a bigger impact in Nuclear Powers perception than James Bond.
