Texas state government (taxpayer) doesn't pay for food for state government meetings for state employees. It does pay for meals for volunteer citizen commissioners during official business. I say paid council members are more efficient and effective if they eat onsite but let independent foundations, Whole Foods, City Market or other donors provide these meals as a philantropic tax writeoff to the city and not let taxpayers be burdened.
