Ahhhh you're so wonderful. :) Thank you for all the info! The program I'm looking at has a nonprofit management track, so that's what I would be doing. I'm going to end up in a little bit of debt, because I'll need to be working full-time while doing the program (so no TA/GA opportunity for me), but it's nice to know that there are scholarships out there. I really really appreciate you!!
I moved cities a year ago and ended up getting a job at a non-library nonprofit, working in development and programming. Ideally I'd get something library-adjacent, or literacy related. I guess my problem is that for 6 years my plan has been to get my MLIS because I loved working in libraries and am passionate about it. But I'm doing very well here, too, and am enjoying it more than I thought I would. The MPA seems so much more broadly useful that if I can get back into libraries, cool, but if I can't I won't be wasting my time or education. I'm glad to hear that it has served you well! Was it very financially stressful for you? That's the second thing I'm stressing about. And also my GRE scores just expired so I have to take it again, lol.
I ate mostly soups and rice pudding after getting mine out. I got sick of smoothies so we ordered a lot of Chinese takeout so I could get egg drop soup and tofu.

So I'm beginning the process for applying to grad school to get my Master of Public Administration. Any Toasties that can give me advice/horror stories? I have a background in development for public libraries, and it seems the MPA is a better way to go than getting my MLIS? I've been down the library job search road before and it is dark and full of terrors.

I find it hilarious, though, that all of these things came out to your parents and they're probably overwhelmed by how uncool you seem, haha. We all do that. Not unpopular! I was just telling a friend that last night. They aren't saddled by the "right" plots and this season is soooo much better. And the pacing is so much better since we don't have to wait 6 episodes for things to happen. I agree with you on Hodor's death... it really feels like that's on Bran and Meera, that they forced it on him. Hodor wasn't in control of himself, didn't choose that, and so I felt his death much more than I felt most of the others. :(
It's so hard to leave, too. Your brother should get out while he can, use his free final move to gtfo. My father was in the Army at Ft. Sill (how I ended up here) and they got out of here as soon as they humanly could, the lucky bastards. I'm glad that my partner and I will only be here a few more years while I finish grad school. And I feel you so hard on the home state rage. Every time I hear anything about Oklahoma on the national news I just brace myself. "What now?! What could it possibly be now?!"
