Got news for you, Robert, because he is President , he has to be the ultimate diplomat. Bowing, like holding hands, or kissing, is a sign of respect for each other's cultures. Notice the Emperor shook his hand while Obama bowed, a sign of mutual respect. Some Japanese would say the Emperor shouldn't shake anyone's hand, but they are not making a big deal of it. There are more important things to worry about.

Mark, my little critique of conservatives pales in comparison to the disrespect most of the bloggers have for our President. I find it fascinating that when you people have nothing intelligent to say, you fall back on sexual innuendo. Most of you haven't gotten over adolescence, and it explains a lot.

The Emperor shook his hand while he bowed. A sign of respect for each other's cultures, no more, no less. Bowing low is also a sign of trust, ask your mother in law!!

It is not a false comparison. Bowing low is a sign of trust and respect for one's elders. Public physical contact, such as shaking, or holding hands is looked down upon in Japan. I'm just saying both actions are respect for cultures other than our own. Stop attacking. Obama for such trivial things

The juvenile thoughts in this blog, my friend, are from the people who are making sexual innuendos about the President bowing low. We don't need these remarks in a supposedly open forum. You also should keep in mind that I am not "opening my mouth", OR "putting words to paper". Oh yes, I remember when Bush Sr. threw up on the PM of Japan. I know he was sick, but he should have "bowed out" gracefully. He caused us to lose face with the Japanese for a while .

I have done business with the Japanese, so I know some of their culture. Bowing low to an elder shows respect for their age and experience. Bowing low is also a sign of trust .

None of you conservative morons complained when "Curious George" W Bush held hands with a Saudi Prince at Camp David. It was considered a sign of respect for their culture. It's the same for the bowing to the Emperor. Get Over It!!
