Anxiously awaiting the games release here in the U.S. The demo is amazing! Even my 11 yo daughter that thought it was too intense before has now tried it and loves it as well.

The Wiire : The Wiire Podcast 163

I hear what your saying but must still cordially disagree on a couple of points. The PS3 was launched in November 2006. Seeing as how any new system Nintendo might announce probably wouldn't launch until 2011 that would mean the PS3 would be between four and five years old. Given the amount of heat Nintendo is getting now I simply don't believe they would bring out a new system graphically inferior to the PS3 in any way. HD on the next system is going to happen no matter what Reggie says or fails to say when talking to the media. Next please understand I LOVE the podcast. I'm just saying that I would like a bit more focus on games out now or upcoming. Yes I know they already talk about them in their "currently playing" segment and elsewhere. I would just like a bit more (definitely hasn't been 1/3 of the podcast recently but I do think 1/3 would be a good number to aim at or exceed) . That's just my preference - everyone is entitled to an opinion and that is mine. I do plan on submitting a question or comment to the podcast one of these days soon. I do enjoy that section of the podcast as well. Just a side thought a religious podcast I also enjoy recently went from one large (2 hour) podcast to a few smaller more targeted ones. Might be an idea for The Wiire. Maybe a second podcast like the Revolution Report (I wasn't a listener at that point) would be in order at this point.

Yeah but...... First: Does anyone here really think Nintendo would bring out their next generation system at this point that isn't more powerful graphically than the PS3 or X-Box 360? No WAY does that happen. It's not even worth talking about. Seriously. Second: Does nobody understand that Reggie has to spin things this way? You must downplay any advantage a competitor may have over you until the very MOMENT you're ready to announce your next system. Third: Does it really make sense for Nintendo to start talking to the media about their next system while they are STILL outselling their competitor's more powerful HD systems? Of course not. It would be foolish beyond belief. Lastly: Of course the subject of the next system is relevant for the podcast. It just seems that recently it's taken up quite a bit space on the podcast for something that hasn't even been announced yet. One thing I've learned as I've aged is that time truly does fly. Before we know it we will have a new system to get excited about. Until then how about more talk on games. P.S. Vitality Sensor isn't that interesting either..... just sayin'

I like that "dare" idea. What say you The Wiire staff? Try a podcast without bringing up HD? I'm pretty new to the site and podcast but in the few months since I started listening I have gone back and listened to podcasts as old as 2007. Probably forty all together. I like the staff mix now the best but the content is a good deal more negative. Please more news on Wii or Wiiware games you like or are looking forward to and less worrying about HD or if an analyst bashed the Wii. We know the Wii's weak areas we don't need it rehashed weekly. Take the dare guys =]

Okay here goes... first comment here or any gaming site. Wanted to comment about the portion of the podcast in which Reggie downplays the lack of HD on the Wii and that HD doesn't enhance the gaming experience. First off most people would admit that a game can be extremely fun without fancy graphics. The new trend of making brand new games that look 8-bit is proof of that. Still it is obvious that improved graphics can enhance the overall experience. But here's my point - Reggie KNOWS this. But even though he knows this he HAS to spin this in a way that downplays this deficiency. He's an executive with Nintendo is he supposed to say "gee I wish our system had HD. I realize that it's inferior to my competitor's systems so I'm really surprised we've sold as many as we have". Obviously I exaggerate for emphasis. I'm just saying he's doing his job. He is selling a system that while much maligned by many has been EXTREMELY successful. Somebody in his position will always talk about the positives and if possible downplay the negatives. As far as the Wii dropping it's price I don't care what the analyst says a smart company does not drop it's price while a product is moving briskly at the price point it is at. Why devalue the product? At my previous employer's I've actually had products that have sold better at higher prices. Some people see a lower price and assume somethings got to be wrong with it. In the Wii's case you can picture rumors starting about Nintendo getting nervous or desperate or on it's way out. I can picture it now - someone goes into Game Stop and is thinking about buying the Wii and the kid behind the counter says "Yeah they just dropped the price cuz they are moving on to the new Wii HD soon and want to unload the rest of the inventory first." Just my opinion. Love the podcast. Just gave The Wiire five stars on iTunes.
