That will be a really solid match. I also think Aj Styles vs. Rusev will be the dark horse match of this even.
Don't put a stip for the Styles/Rusev match.
Women's Tag Team Tournament to air live on Facebook watch?
Lets make something perfectly clear. The Monday night wars/Attitude Era is OVER. DEAD. GONE. Just like the popularity of every boy band and and crappy manufactured rock band that was around during the late '90s. It was a phase which had many people that weren't even necessarily wrestling fans tuning their tv's into TNT and/or USA every Monday night. I laugh whenever someone points to WWE going PG (nearly a decade after the attitude era ended, may I add) as the reason for why the ratings are low and the product being crappy. First off, the number one reason that far exceeds anything having to do with Linda McMahon's failed senate campaign as to why they went PG was to STAY IN BUSINESS. They needed to present something that parents would be willing to let their kids watch. After all, in 2008 (year WWE went PG) there was no WWE Network, Facebook, ect to broadcast on so they definitely needed to keep themselves in a prime time slot on a major network. But wait, foul language, bra and panties matches and necrophilia are the reason why WWE sucks today? No, It's because the more corporate they've become the more focus has been put into the brand's image, viewed by the outsider. Somehow the actual product that is viewed by the actual fan has become far less important than the brands image, when in reality they should be equally important. The product is garbage today because WWE are more worried about how much money they can fit into their wallets instead of hiring writers that think outside the generic hollywood box. Anyway, that's my rant.
Even if the company does sign the Hulkster to a new deal, I would highly advise against putting him on live TV in front of a live audience. Maybe start off with a network special and keep his appearances strictly on the network. No need to jump the gun.
Hopefully the Cruiserweight Title match gets some solid time for being bumped.
Good article Tito. I definitely agree with you when it comes to the way WWE "attempts" to build main event stars. Management does need to put more trust into the talent and allow them the opportunity to connect with the audience on their own to a good degree the way Austin, Rock, Cena, ect. were. Obviously the list of "what not to do or say" has broadened with the times but from where I'm standing, it seems like the lack of creative freedom towards a character is the equivalent to a lack of oxygen (no pun intended..cough..cough..Roman Reigns). I get the feeling that we will never see that type of creative freedom again which is a shame when you think about where someone like the young Patrick Clark a.k.a. Velveteen Dream will be 5-10 years from now versus where he could be if given that degree of creative freedom.
Not really sure how to feel about new Cruiserweight tag titles but I am very pleased by the fact that NXT will now have a secondary title. They've had a lot of established top guys (Balor, Joe, Nakamura, Roode, ect.) come in, win the NXT title their first year and shortly after go up to the main roster and do well. I'm sure this pattern will continue with the likes of EC3, Adam Cole and others but there are a lot of guys like Velveteen Dream, Killian Dain, Ricochet, Pete Dunn and many more that do not need to be thrown to the "Vincefied" main roster anytime in the near future. Allow them to build a nicely seasoned career in NXT (which strengthens the brand) and bring them up when and if they are ready for the big time. Fingers crossed that they use the North American title the way a secondary title is supposed to be used, a stepping stone.
People are complaining about LOP giving the guy probliciry are not approaching this the right way. More publicity means more attention brought to the courts that convicted him. He admitted he would be "crashing" the nXt show. The guy needs help before it's too late and somebody else pays or worse due to blatant neglegance.
Why not hold a women's tag team tournament to start off. Perhaps put it on FB watch after the MMC wraps up but make it huge. Have ladies from Raw, Smackdown, NXT and even a few top indy competitors. Mix it up a bit too. For example, while we may get The Bella's as a team you could have another team reminiscent to the old NXT with a "vet" and a "rookie", say Sasha Banks and Kairi Sane as just one of many posibilities. Would definitely be intersting.
