Having a Medical Database is good for the patient and the Hospital and the Doctor but don't let the Health Insurance Companies get a hold of it because if anyone who has ever had a pre-existing condition will never be able to afford health insurance again!

Hi MSJ,
I completely agree that healthcare cost is out of control. Here areas that I believe drive the cost:
Health Insurance Companies have way too much control.
Malpractice Insurance is out of control.
Bogus malpractice claims and ridiculous settlements are out of control
Education Costs are out of control

Thanks for letting me rant…

Ok, based on the video above there are great ideas out there, I like the Health Corp idea myself, but as stated, one of the biggest issues is COST control.

As an example: Oct 27, 2008 I entered the hospital at 8:30 am, for a scheduled "Outpatient" procedure, to have ONE kidney stone removed via a scope. No cutting involved. I was prepped and in the operating room by 9:30. I was in the OR for a little over one hour. I recovered, had a sandwich and left by 12:30 pm on the same day.

I got the bill about a week later from the hospital…guess how much?…are you sitting down?...for a little over $22,000.00!!! Can you believe it? I almost passed out. What the heck are they thinking? It was one lousy kidney stone. They didn’t even touch me with a knife. How can they justify this? If there are any Doctors and/or Hospital Administrators out there who can justify this price, please explain.

Thanks for letting me rant…
