Big Government : Romney: A Campaign that Only Millions of Dollars Could Buy

A very good point. Still, I think Mr. Flynn's concerns about Santorum are valid.

You're all forgetting something: if Obama wins reelection, I'm betting he will find a way to subsidize failing liberal newspapers.

Big Journalism : Let's Hope the Instincts Romney's Showing in the NBC, Brokaw Controversy Are Used Against Obama

I've been supporting Romney as the better bet over Gingrich to defeat Obama. I've stuck up for him through Bain, Romneycare, flip flops, and so on. But he has seriously eroded my support for him by saying that Brokaw is a "very credible and respected journalist." I'm kidding. I think.

A reasonable position, except for one small thing: what leads you to believe that Obama would allow himself to be restrained by a Congress in the hands of the other party? After all, the Constitution means crap to him.

This is what conservatives who can't stand Romney say. It is also what Dem trolls who want to suck us into staying home if it's Romney say. If it's Romney, I really believe that the Dems will launch a major campaign to rile up conservatives against him and the Republican Establishment: "Don't vote for the RINO"; "Send McConnell and Boehner a message"; "There's no difference between Obama and Romney." Question is, how many conservatives will allow themselves to be manipulated into handing the One a win.

Foolish? Saying I'll do whatever I must, sell my first born--whatever it takes to defeat Obama and rid us of Holder. Anybody on the right who does not ultimately support the anti-Obama, whoever he is, will bear some responsibility for what happens to this country if Obama is reelected. Go ahead--stand tall on principles; maybe, if enough conservatives do that, they'll have a great view of an America laid low in a second term that will make the first seem positively innocuous. Obama must be defeated; everything else is secondary.

Romney isn't my guy but if he's the nominee, I'll crawl through a bin of used hypodermic needles to vote for him. What drives me crazy is conservatives who say, "Romney? Obama Lite. Nah, I'll sit it out." IMO, such talk is foolish; Obama is so freaking far left he's in danger of floating off the planet. How can anybody who's been watching things unfold put Romney in the same boat with a guy who's trying to destroy the village in order to save it? I can understand it if people question the primary process, the Establishment support of Romney, Romney's bona fides, on and on. But how anyone on the right who's watched the One can sit out the election is beyond me. And by the way, if it is Romney, Dem Trolls will be all over sites like this one posing as hard righters who will not compromise their principles by voting for Obama Lite. Through such tactics, they aim to depress the vote for Romney. I'll bet that one of every three commenters who take that tack at the Bigs and other conservative sites are Dem plants.

Great job, Mr. Nolte. When I see you keeping their feet to the fire, I have some hope, Taranto at WSJ took the AP to task yesterday for a "fact check." Seems Gingrich said he'd move our embassy to Jerusalem. AP's Anne Gearan did a fact check on that statement, saying other people have said it in the past and it hasn't happened. Therefore, Gingrich got it wrong. Taranto takes the reporter to task for this idiocy, saying, "The trouble here is that there isn't a fact to check. Gingrich's statement is one of intent, not fact." Ms Gearan, if you're reading this, I will give you the benefit of the doubt and merely call you ignorant. Your colleague Charles Babington, sad to say, remains a hack for saying of "Fast and Furious" the other day that the program was a "flawed law enforcement initiative."

Big Peace : America's 'Soft Target': Stephen Hunter Discusses Terrorism's Permanence

"How do we combat an enemy who is willing to die for what he believes in?" There is no way. I'm amazed a mall attack hasn't happened yet. How is that preventable? The only response I can think of to such an atrocity that might actually have a bearing on whether it's repeated is an impossibility in a free society: to minimize reporting about such an attack. It won't/can't happen, but think about it. Terrorists want the world to know they've killed many infidels. The publicity they get when they pull off a 9/11 or Khobar Towers is like mother's milk to them. Suppose they succeed in doing something big here in the U. S., and instead of getting 24/7 coverage, all that happened was truly limited coverage of the event. Can you see the terror masters in their bunkers going bonkers because CNN is not covering their glorious victory except for a bare mention of what happened? Why go to so much trouble to strike a blow for the cause if it's going to be almost ignored? I know, this reasoning is, um, suspect, maybe, but what else you got?

The key point here is the threat of legal action by the school if the man revealed the reply he got. Mr. Benson, if you're reading this, I hope to God you get a legal opinion on the overt threat contained in that letter. At the least, I also hope you request time to speak at a school board meeting and say to Board members--not about the Fox News bit, but the warning to be silent about the response--"What the hell is going on here? How dare an administrator tell me I damn well better be silent about the school's position or face possible legal action. How dare they try to muzzle me. I want an apology for the attempt to intimidate me, and I want it now."

Well, at least the author didn't say she'd sit out the election if Romney's the nominee.
Big Government : Did Kevin DeWine Really Use Mitt Romney to Embarrass John Kasich?

You cannot, I repeat, you cannot be serious that Romney could be another Obama. I rarely say anything when people express opinions about GOP candidates. Hey, we're all coming from different places. But to suggest Romney represents the existential threat to America that Obama does is way beyond the pale. If you have been following Obama closely since he took office, and especially the last six months, you cannot possibly believe that he is a copy of the man who is engaged in ripping the country apart at the seams. I am not a Romney fan. But nothing he's ever said or done suggests he wants to break America down and remake it as a socialist utopia. Obama's trying to destroy America's heart on his power trip. Romney is too? Gimme a break. Please, please qualify.

The left is getting unhinged, and it's going to get worse. The more you hear about "radical" solutions and suspending elections and working around the Constitution, and the rest, the likelier it is that The One is going to do something drastic before the election if his numbers show reelection is virtually impossible. I would advise us all to be be prepared for some extra-constitutional gambit sometime this summer or fall. I put nothing past this man, the increasingly desperate Democratic Party, and loyalists in the media like Matthews, who has now officially jumped the shark.
