Google Android Blog : Android developers unhappy with Android's financial rewards

I agree that the Market needs a lot of work. Everyone has great ideas on how to improve the market from adding a desktop/web client. Adding daily/weekly/monthly "best of" listings. Even adding tags would be an improvement. I think complaining about having to use Google Checkout is ridiculous. As it's been pointed out, you have to give Apple a credit card to purchase apps from iTunes. Honestly I think using Google Checkout is the way to go. I don't want T-Mobile to add the purchase price of apps to my bill. I like when I buy something it's paid for at the time I buy it. It helps me not over spend when making purchases. I think one area that really needs improving is with the phones themselves. Let's face it, if someone wanted to go absolutely app crazy with the iPhone they have gigs of space to install them. As it stands right now, out of 64MB on my G1, I have 10MB free. That's not much room to invest much in apps. Expanding the memory on the phones would help open the door to more sales. Even if they put 2GB on the phones that would be a vast improvement to what's available now. I've seen a lot of people even suggesting that Android should be able to install apps to the microSD card. While that could work, I would prefer to have more room on the phone for the apps and then the microSD card can still be used for music, video, pictures and data storage for the apps.

jaysays.com | because simon isn't cool anymore : See, He's as Immoral As We Are! Outing Politicians.

I've always had a problem with this outings. I thing you're right in feeling that we're telling everyone that person is as immoral as us. Of course as a group we're not any more moral or immoral as any other group of people. I only think it's right to out these people after they've allowed themselves to be caught in some toe tapping, footsie playing bathroom activities.

The New Civil Rights Movement : BREAKING: 57% Of Texans Support Legal Recognition Of Same-Sex Unions

I have to admit I'm rather surprised by those numbers. Sadly I don't think there will be a big push to change our constitution to allow for civil unions or marriage.

The New Civil Rights Movement : Senator: "We’re allowing gays to exist" (Updated With Audio)

Is this the 1950's segregated south? This is like a senator from that era saying "we're allowing the colored folk to have their own diners." In retrospect if senator had said something like that then, we would see it as the hateful comment it was meant to be. In what I hope is none to distant future everyone will see Senator Eichelberger's comment in the same light.

The New Civil Rights Movement : DEVELOPING: Obama Extends Benefits To Federal LGBT Employees\' Partners

I think Lee said it best on Twitter when he said this basically makes the rest of us 4th class citizens. Actually I think this makes the rest of us 5th class citizens when you take into account that some counties and cities offer the same type of benefits to their employees. Personally I feel that this is in conflict with DOMA. Of course I'm not a lawyer. This does at a minimum make Obama's administration a hypocrite on LGBT issues.

When you sign a petition you believe you're right for believing the way you do. As such, you should be able to stand up and not be ashamed of what you did. Even if what you're trying to do is take away an inalienable right from your neighbors. I know I wouldn't have a problem with standing up publicly for my beliefs. Why is it that that people trying to deny rights to others have a problem with it? Do they know deep down that they aren't being very Christ like in denying us our civil rights?

The New Civil Rights Movement : NY Assemblywoman Barbara M. Clark's Explanation Of Her Gay Marriage Bill Vote

I hope you get a response from her office. This is the most ludicrous thing I have ever heard. I bet she's upset then that some of the black men are marrying white women. Which in turn leaves less black men available to marry the black women. She should be ashamed of herself.

The New Civil Rights Movement : Christians Opposed to Gay Marriage Aren't Bigots?

That's an excellent response. I have no problem with a church deciding on a biblical or moral ground that they don't want to perform same-sex marriages, but they shouldn't use those reasons to deny us our civil rights.

The New Civil Rights Movement : Maine Governor Signs Gay Marriage Bill

Given that Maine is a referendum state like California, we need to take the lessons learned from Prop.8 and make sure the fairness and equality stays the law. Opponents of gay marriage only need to gather about 54,000 signatures and have them turned in by Sept. 4 to have this put on the ballot for November.

The New Civil Rights Movement : "Not Ready": New Hampshire Lawmakers Say No To Gay Marriage

If the nation had taken the time to wait until everyone was ready then I don't doubt that there would still be places here in the Old South that would deny interracial couples from getting married. Sometimes people just need to be shoved into facing what is only right and fair when it comes to civil rights. I don't mean that as militant as it sounds, but when things like Loving v Virginia was ruled on by the US Supreme Court the nation wasn't 100% ready for interracial marriage. I'm sure there was resistance from change in some places, but with some small exceptions, no one thinks twice about seeing an interracial couple. The same is slowly starting to come true for same-sex marriage. There will be, or rather there is resistance, but once we win the fight the nation will find that we are a better place overall.

The New Civil Rights Movement : One Step Forward For The Matthew Shepard Act

A friend and I discussed hate crime legislation today. She actually asked if it was really needed. She asked, "what's the difference between shooting someone during a robbery or a random shooting on the highway versus shooting someone because they are black or gay?" When I reminded her about James Byrd, Jr. and Matthew Shepard she started to understand why hate crime legislation is important. For those that don't remember or didn't hear about Byrd outside of Texas he was was a black man beaten and then dragged behind a pickup truck for about three miles. He finally died when his right arm and head was severed from his body. The NAACP brought this up when Bush was running for President in 2000 accusing him of implicit racism because he was against hate crime legislation for TX. One of the few good things Perry did after becoming gov. was sign the James Byrd Jr. Hate Crimes Act into law. I also told her about the December murder in NYC of the gentleman from Ecuador that was killed when he and his brother were walking down the street doing something common in their culture. They were simply holding hands, and they were attacked and beaten with the attackers using ant-Hispanic and anti-gay slurs as they beat them. I'm getting to my point now, just as I did with her. Hate crimes are generally more vicious in nature than just the random murder. As such they need to be dealt with in a different manner. I was glad to see that she finally saw why it is important that this passes.

Yikes, I'm so behind on all of your new stuff right now. Bloody work keeps getting in the way. I liked this song. I know that's you on the guitar, but who else provided musical accompaniment? It's really nice to hear you with something other than the guitar and Alex on keyboards. It provides an interesting depth, especially to this song.
