My family and I promise to never ride Max. Does that mean I can opt out of the increased property tax that comes along with paying for this? Time to move away from the urban sprawl.

KATU - Portland, OR : City Council to consider utility rate increases | Events | Milwaukie News

Exactly...City council shoots first, ask questions later, and then says "oh, well too late". Also, the low income utility program doesn't help the majority of the rate payers. Even changed billing process to squeeze more $ out of the citizens. Milwaukie city council has no grasp on reality and is only tearing sheets right out of the Portland City Council scam book.

KATU - Portland, OR : New fishing dock now open on the Willamette River | KATU.com - Portland News, Sports, Traffic Weathe

If this is where I think it is on the river...it's a huge improvement over the huge wall that the anglers used to fish off of. Though it is on the other side of the river of the wall, I hope it's more enticing to anglers. This way throwing back a non-keeper doesn't mean literally "throwing them back" off a 100ft wall back to the water.

Citi-Blow doesn't care...they're not even honest enough to return her payments that weren't enough. I'm sure she would have gotten the message if they would have returned the payments for not being enough. But no, they pocket it and then yank the rug right from underneath her. They've recently gone to the extent of "reorganizing" their local branches and assigning customers to specific branches that are out of their way to get to. Really messed up when the local branch has to call another to verify your account. Hello, ever heard of "networking"? They are the poster children of dysfunctional lending.

Apology accepted....Suggestions for next year: 1- bring your own water bottle or camelpak; 2- If you wear a poncho, discard it in a garbage can or pack it out; 3- move the marathon out to the airport (plenty of space there); 4- disregard your self righteousness and remember that your hobby shouldn't interfere with others. ... oh, I raised you back to 1 point because I felt bad for offending you.

KATU - Portland, OR : Gas station overfills tank, then tells man to pay up | Southeast Portland News

"Every station I have been in runs your card for the amount you requested then if the card clears pumps the gas" Coming from 15 years of experience in the credit card business, I can vouch that this actually is not true. Most stations will only get authorization for $1.00 (yes, one) and then complete the transaction a day or two later. The gas stations don't care if you go over limit. They have payment agreements with the card companies. Unless it's their gas card or you have less than $1.00 available, it's going to go through. I don't know how many past conversations I had where people "forgot" about their fuel charge and ended up going over limit. Best part is being blamed for allowing it to happen...I used to enjoy saying "You had $20 available, asked for $20 gas, and got $20 gas. That's when you should have stopped using your card. Now, you thought you had $19 available, so you bought something else. This is what put you over your limit. Now you get to pay for going over your limit." However, I will say the customer is responsible for monitoring the pump when getting gas. If he was watching, he could have stopped it before it got out of control. **I didn't thumb up or down since I'm neutral**

I've got a flipped example of this story.....I roll in with less than a 1/8th of a tank of gas, say "Fill w/regular please", and the attendant gets right to it (note how polite I was), and steps away. A few seconds go by, I hear the tell tale click of pump handle shutting off, look at the total, and realize it's only $13 and some change. I instantly knew it wasn't full. Before I could say anything the attendant yanks the hose and finishes the sale. As soon as I could, I told him it wasn't full and what my tank measured before he started.... To my shock, he started yelling at me and telling me it's against the law for him to "top off" my tank (stupid Oregon law). I threatened to leave and take my business across the street. He came to his sense, moaned and groaned some more, and finished filling my tank. When we were done, paid (again), and then I congratulated him on lowering is average sales transaction. I wish we could have the choice of self serve or not. Even if it didn't have any affect on the price of fuel.
