He cites Supreme Court decisions and public records laws which have nothing to do with the situation at hand. The public records laws are about if KOMO files a request to watch the videos for some story they are doing, NOT about law enforcement warrants regarding evidence in a crime. Similarly, the Supreme Court decisions are about law enforcement activities WITHOUT reasonable suspicion of a crime. There is NO precedent or principle in law or any commonly held philosophy that says there is any "privacy" at a library in regards to criminal activity. If the warrant is specific only to the video regarding the crime, there is no privacy issue, and there is no law that recognizes any such privacy issue. He is either nearly completely incompetent about privacy issues, or he has some ulterior motive and is being intentionally dishonest. Either way, he should be fired.
