I do believe that there needs to be a balance of wealth in a society and the distribution of wealth in America is in no way balanced. It is a little ridiculous that .1 percent of the country holds the most wealth of the country. The reason for this outrageous unbalance of wealth in America is due the corruption of the government by the those who are already rich. Just like we talked about in class the rich fund the politicians and the politicians look out for those who funded them. Because of this the majority of the country is being stepped over and used.
Politicians, good or bad, have an obligation to those who through money at them because in this country money is power. I would love to see a presidential candidate run for office without accepting donations over 10,000 dollars and WIN. That way, if this is a good candidate, they will have no obligations to the rich and they will be able to fully do their job which is to protect the American people. But I don’t believe this will ever happen. I think no one has the guts to do this because although they might seem good to the majority of America the rich will still fund those who will look out for them in the end.
Overall, America will never be a balanced society because of the greed of the rich but we cannot be mad at the rich because if we were in their position we would probably do the same thing. It’s the downfall of human nature.

First of all, I am African American and I have a very serious problem with the idea of “acting white” or “acting black”. So I just want to set some terminology for everyone to use in the future. The non political term “white” covers a large population including European Americans and Europeans but you probably wouldn’t say that a European is “acting white”. So lets change that stereotype to “acting American”. It’s still a stereotype but it’s a more politically correct term.
Now lets deal with the issue of “acting black”. When someone refers to the stereotype of “acting black” they are usually talking about someone that is ghetto or someone who is a product of living in an urban, low socioeconomic area. So lets change “acting black” to “acting ghetto”.
Now referring to the video, which is hilarious by the way, this guy is the epitome of the stereotypical American. I am not even sure if it’s possible the make him less “American”. Maybe if he loosened up a bit, or didn’t tuck his polo into his jeans? Even the way he talks, which in his defense is Standard English, makes him very bland.

If health care is going to be regulated by the government then what affects our health should also be somewhat regulated by the government. But the real issue with Americans is weather or not the government should regulate heath care in the first place. I am a strong supporter of government involvement in the lives of its people. I guess you could call me a socialist so I am a fan of the new health care program. But with this being a mostly capitalist country the socialist program won’t be as efficient as it would be in a socialist country where the government could interfere with what affects the health of the people like what they eat.
In America if a government official wanted to stop the production of Big Macs because of how unhealthy they are for the American people it would never work because of the capitalism of America. There are many public programs that aren’t working as effectively as the could be because of the capitalist country we live in such as welfare, the public school system, medicaid, etc. The American people will never see the benefits of social programs because they feel afraid that they are not free to make there own decisions even if the decisions that they make on there own are the wrong ones. Therefore they will always fight whats good for them.
As far as costs go, if we do not allow the government to have even the slightest influence on what we eat and other factors that affect our health we will literally be paying for it in the long run. With the new health care program in effect, the unhealthier Americans are the more its going to cost the government because of the cost of medical supplies, medication, and salaries of people in the medical field. Therefore its going to raise taxes!
So Americans if you want to live a good life in this democracy that we live in you must vote for the right people so they can make the right decisions for you.

These children are in no way free and neither are the mothers. These girls are at such a young age that there is no way that there are capable making the rash decisions about there appearance. The mothers are treating the girls like this because of how they were treated as children and how society shaped there perception of beauty. Teens and young adult women that participate in beauty pageants have about as much freedom as these little girls.
Unfortunately freedom isn’t an option for these girls. They are way too young to decide if they need their eyebrows waxed or if its “funny” to wear a cone bra. The girl in the video probably had no idea who Madonna was. So its obvious that the mothers are making these decisions about there appearance for them, shaping the girls’ views of beauty. But who’s shaping the mothers view of what beauty really is?
The pageant mothers are as innocent as their daughters because someone or something is shaping their idea of beauty. As a human being stuck in society like the mothers it is hard for me to pinpoint what it is that is shaping us to believe such lies. Yes, I say lies because I don’t believe that a toddler in a cone bra, with a pound of make up and waxed eyebrows “forced” into a beauty pageant is the true definition of beauty. I don’t think there is one true definition of beauty but something is telling us that there is.
In class we talk about the invisible strings the come down and connect us and shape us all. Maybe this is what’s shaping of views of beauty. This is why I don’t think that the teens and older women that participate in pageants have anymore freedom than the little girls. Although they are older and have more of a say over their lives the strings that shape them are just like the mothers that shape their daughters.
