I recently got a 3G device with the 3.0.1 fw on it. I had to activate the device via itunes, asked itunes 9 to set it up as a new phone. After this pointed redsnow at the 3_0 ipsw and put the phone in DFU mode, but its stuck at the "waiting for reboot" screen forever. have plugged out and in the USB cable couple of times and tried this on a 2 different machines with the same result.
