<description>Good point about the 1,2 vs 1,1. the community link only gives me the zip file that has the .dmg files for macs. Any site carrying the ipsw files for windows. </description>

<description>Corrected, since the original post had it as 3.1. I am referring to the firmware the device has. I know renaming the ipsw wont work..   file icon does look like a cub with the music note on it.  </description>

<description>I&amp;#039;ve used redsnow to jailbreak/unlock 2G successfully in the past. I recently got a 3G device with the 3.0.1 fw on it. I had to activate the device via itunes, asked itunes 9 to set it up as a new phone. After this pointed redsnow at the 3_0 ipsw and put the phone in DFU mode, but its stuck at the &amp;quot;waiting for reboot&amp;quot; screen forever. have plugged out and in the USB cable couple of times and tried this on a 2 different machines with the same result. Any pointers? Corrected the firmware to read 3.0.1 ..  </description>
