addybee, I do not think you understand how the DOJ collects statistics. The quality control and ground-truthing are all but non-existent. You are turning a blind eye if you think only 5% re-offend. Even if that absurd number is correct, it only reflects the number of times a sexual predator is prosecuted and convicted, not the number of times or the frequency with which they commit these crimes. You appear willing to give the benefit of the doubt to a sexual predator. That is your choice. I, on the other hand, do not believe in "'acceptable loss" when it comes to our children falling prey to these criminals. I do not believe rape, torture and murder should part of someone's childhood. Breaking a law, as this Mother did, does not automatically make someone a bad person. But, being a sexual predator makes them a bad person every time.

I am a retired cop. Please, do not expect this woman to rely on the same system that set this sex offender free to roam the streets and prey upon our children and other family members. Sex offenders CAN NOT be rehabilitated. An earlier post stated the sex offender "made a mistake". Sexually molesting someone is NOT a MISTAKE.That is the kind of thinking that has created a justice system that believes it is proper to turn sex offenders free. As a Law Enforcement Officer, I know that if this criminal was prosecuted once, then he committed several other sex offenses that he was never held responsible for. Sex offenders never have only one victim. This is not some game, this man is destroying lives. People need to stop being victims and defend themselves and defend the innocent people who cannot protect themselves. Justice is certainly elusive. If law enforcement could have protected his first victim, they would have.
