No, I haven't heard this at all. Wish it were true, but the proof is in the doing, and so far, I haven't seen them doing anything. They'll say what they think will get them re-elected. Let's see some action.

I like Sarah Palin, and I'm watching her closely. But to vote for anyone because of race, sex, or political party affiliation is a mistake.

Listen to what the candidate has to say, and look at what s/he has done. Is the person truly founded in Constitutional law?

I think Sarah is making good use of the time to hone her skills, and I have great hope that the coming yaers will produce some admirable candidates, from local to federal, who we can enthusiastically support. But our job does not end there, and we will have to be watchful that no candidate is elected and then left to his or her own devices. We can not afford to lower our guard again.

What say we all take that spirit and apply it to getting the anti-Constitutional invaders out of Washington so this entire country can be proud and free.

mrwest, I don't think you can pin that down exactly, since it varies from year to year. Here's a link that shows calendars for various years when Congress is in session. http://thomas.loc.gov/home/ds/ However. Congressmen and Senators are presumably using the time they are not in session to go home and work among their constituents. Also, this is not a nine-to-five job, nor five days a week. I guess you have to rely on the trustworthiness of your representative. And if s/he isn't trustworthy, vote 'em out! Which, of course, brings us to where we are now.

Has anyone noticed that your posting number never goes up anymore, or am I the only invisable one?

(Part II)

This is a learning process. Last night I read in The 5000 Year Leap about the difference between a democracy and a republic. I do not consider myself uninformed about the constitution or history, but I had never heard the distinction made. I urge you to take this time to educate yourself; you will become a powerful voice when you know what you're talking about and can back it up.

Join the groups that you feel are the best, and if they turn out to le less than you expected, drop them. A place like The 912 Project allows us to share ideas and to be bolstered when we're feeling ineffective.

Keep the faith!

Patience, onehope_77, patience. Perserverance. We did not slip into apathy overnight ,and we will not come out of it overnight.

The tea parties were a rousing good start, but only a start. Many, many people of like mind watched, but are still hesitant to become active. Things have always turned out "all right," and we Americans are optimists. That gives them confidence that they can do nothing and all will be well eventually. The inactive folks will keep trickling in when they see the resolve we have. We have been put in the position of being teachers.

I have had the same thought. What we jokingly say to each other looks entirely different in the black and white of a liberal newspaper or blog. Better not to say it at all. Even if we joke about it among ourselves, we can get used to doing that and it will slip out sometime when there are negative eyes and ears around. It is folly to underestimate the enemy.
