The problem with public schools is that there is far too much government mandate. I am not afraid of competetion, because I know I am a good and competent teacher. We need to renew the fact that education is a privelege not a right. We also need to acknowledge that all children can learn but not all children want to learn. Some would rather perform acts of violence and sell drugs or just hang around the house and play video games all day. The sad truth is that most talk radio show hosts.. or conservative commentators.. and especially politicians have never set foot inside a class room. they don&#039;t have a clue. Teachers hands are bound and their mouths are gagged. We are told what to teach.. where to teach... and how to teach.. and it is all teaching directly to a standardized test. Sorry if I got on my soap box... but the entitlement mentality of these college kids is pathetic... lets rejoice in the fact that they are hopefully just a small minority...
