KOMO - Seattle, WA : \'He will always be in our hearts and minds\' | Seattle News, Weather, Sports, Breaking News | KOMO

Death penalty. Cheap, permanent way to rid our world of idiots. But, noooo. The law will want to analyze this guy's behavior, find out if he was abused as a child and get him some high level counseling to go along with his 3 year jail term. Which will be shortened, no doubt, and he'll be out road raging again...

KOMO - Seattle, WA : There\'s miserable weather, then there\'s Tuesday in Tennessee | Seattle News, Weather, Sports, Brea

We may be lucky right now compared to those suffering hot, humid heatwaves in other parts of the country. But we are not lucky, as far as our usual summers go. As a third generation Seattle native, I have come to accept the long, dark, wet winters that we endure. Partly, because there is the summer carrot hanging out in front of us. We all know this is the best place to be in the summer time, right? But when we get a La Nina summer, or whatever it is that we are experiencing this year, we feel like we are getting ripped off. Summer is too short around here to give up a couple of weeks for cool, cloudy weather. That being said, I will still take 62 degrees and overcast verses 100 degrees and humid any day. Hopefully we'll have a nice September!

Thanks. This is a better explanation of your concerns and I understand what you are saying, fully. My previous comment was easy to interpret as indicative of going along at a juvenile level, or justifying this illegal contact. That was not the intent. And, I agree that predatory adults are the lowest form of scum on the earth. I absolutely put a lid on talk when it gets inappropriate. Bottom line - I hope and believe that this young man, with a little help, will be okay in the long run.

I swear that I can pick out stolen cars on the road. Two different colors, lowered, big exhaust pipe and the, uh....driver. It seems like if the cops pull a car over like that, they would find no insurance and non-matching tabs/license plate/ owner information at least half the time.

There are so many stolen cars, that it seems like the SPD hardly looks for them any more. Both of my sisters had their cars stolen, and a couple of friends as well. The sad thing is that one of my friends found his car on his own, on the street with the "new owners" stuff, kid seat and toys in it. Being used with impunity. I guess this is common, and then once the tabs expire, the car is parted out. Really frustrating. And then you start noticing the kind of punks that drive those older Hondas and it's easy to see why they have to steal things. It is also easy to generalize on their nationality, but it is probably losers from all walks. And a lot of these idiots are the ones doing slalom between cars in traffic. Wish the cops could nail more of them...

How about he gets to sell the rights to books and movies, but all of the money goes to the victims and the insurance companies that had to cover the wrecked airplanes, boats, stores and homes? Then he does his time in the state pen and his movie royalties can pay for that, too. Finally, if there is money leftover, it can go towards building better juvenile detention facilities that punks like Colton can't escape from. And hopefully, someday when Colton is a free man and making an honest living and paying taxes, some little scumbag will steal something he worked for, so he can see what it feels like....

KOMO - Seattle, WA : WSP: Marysville steakhouse tops state DUI list | Seattle News, Weather, Sports, Breaking News | KOMO

Absolutely. I live in a small town, and the cops have just about put the bars out of business by camping out front. Most people don't know just how much they can drink before they blow a .08. If there was a tester by the door, it would save a lot of trouble. If you blow something over a .08, the machine gives you the phone numbers of the cab services in the area. That would be a public service. These days a DUI is a very expensive proposition. 98% of drunk drivers don't get caught, but 90% of them don't know that they are legally drunk...I think a lot less of them would drive if they knew they were over the limit.

KOMO - Seattle, WA : Crash on I-5 leaves 1 dead, 1 critically injured | Seattle News, Weather, Sports, Breaking News | KO

Canadian drivers in general seem to get away with a lot on the northern stretches of I-5. Driving between Bellingham and Seattle frequently, I am passed by Canadians like I'm standing still while cruising in the 70 zone. Don't get me wrong - I'd be the first to vote for an Autobahn. But rarely, if ever have I seen a Canadian pulled over in this subjugated state, where there is a radar trap behind every bush. There must be extra paperwork or hassles involved for the WSP. Or, maybe the Canadians just don't pay their fines. Either way, we need to start citing careless drivers on both sides of the speed limit and regardless of nationality. Someone doing 40 in the 70 zone is presenting as much of a hazard as someone driving over the limit...That being said, the overtaking vehicle is generally responsible for avoiding slower vehicles...In any event, this is a bad deal - condolences to all involved.
