Don't blame the school. North had a growing enrollment, just a short while ago. My child was in one of the largest Freshmen classes at the High School. They had to increase the number of lunch periods because of overcrowding and not having time to eat. They had classes in the library and wrestling room. So what did they do, they added onto the school and then took away the kids (kinda quietly, if I say so). MAKES ALOT OF SENSE DOESN'T IT!! YES! Do I think people are knocking at the doors of the Animal Control requesting animals? NO! Do I think we can afford to run a no-kill facility? NO! I hear so many complaints about the Animal Control System, but no solutions. In a perfect world, there would be no overabundance of animals. But, I'm afraid this is not a perfect world. With limited budgets, I feel the Animal Control System is doing correctly. These animals, as sad as I am about it, are not going to survive. Only a few will be adopted. Why? Because there are too many animals and not enough wanting them, especially in these times. If their death (which is going to occur regardless) can mean at least a little good comes out of it, I am for it. I have more 5 animals myself and feel like I don't give them enough attention, so I am not going to get anymore. You can only do so much. Too many kids ride buses now and you would have a nightmare with duplicate routes, etc. not to mention the additional costs, especially with fuel on the rise again. There was an idea of turning North into a specialized school, don't know what happened to that idea. I understand some of the complaints about schools. The school that I went to, always look down on the other schools (they were rivals afterall and we were the best). Looking back, there really wasn't much difference. I work along side equals who attended those schools and they turned out ok (well at least most of them). I know a working couple who is struggling to make ends meet, as I did when I was their age. They've had job changes and reduced incomes. They could go to government programs, but they refuse. Others in the grocery store take 3 transactions to check out because of all the "programs" that they getting help from, then they pull out money to pay for their "luxury items". IF we go to a government health care system, some of these other give-outs have to stop. We are making a lazy society. At some point, there are too many takers and not enough left to give. With jobs as they are right now, there is less money coming into the system. How are we going to pay for it? Tax the productive members of our society more. There are not enough "rich" to pay for it. The middle class has been weakened due to reduced hours and loss of jobs. every portion of the government is looking at raising taxes. I wish I had the answers, but I don't. I do know this back and forth attacking each other is not the answer.
