Kent,

Just saw this. So your contention is that private behavior is nobody's business, but the people involved?

I think that is a fair point, if that's your view. Plenty of public officials even have had rough personal lives, but productive public lives.

Yeah how cool was that? I'm not sure where he said that, but it was nice to hear.

I think these guys need to eat with each other more. That could help.

I'm with you. Our financial system was intentionally designed to tie those with money to our government. I believe that Hamilton thought it was the only way for our country to survive. That is, to have these powerful people invested in the success of the country.

Having corporations be able to directly invest in individual candidates is an idea that is absolutely abhorrent to me. The Supreme Court's decision actually hurts the free speech of citizens of the United States and allows corporations unlimited control of government officials.

Looks like Steven Colbert can actually have his Doritos Crunchtacular Candidacy now.

Zandra,

If you'd like I can post the other clips from it for discussion. For me, it was surprisingly good.

Liz,

The confused look is because these are two guys who can be a bit over the top at times. Not only was I impressed by the civil tone of their discussion, but also the quality. These guys are both really smart guys.

About your point about Bill trying to be funny: That's the one rule of doing an interview with a comedian right. Don't try to be funny....unless you are also a comedian.

I have to admit though that I hadn't seen O'Reilly on The Daily Show. I don't see that much of Stewart these days. If I have time to watch anything I tune in to the Colbert Report.

McCain-Feingold certainly wasn't perfect, but is it better to just have complete free range for corporations to run our government. I don't think so.

People might argue that that's the way it is now, but I've got news for them.

You ain't seen nothing yet.

I like the idea too in a sense, but I just keep coming back to the fact that corporations should not be able to spend unlimited money for specific candidates. That's just absolutely insane.

Zandra,

I've heard of the term before, but don't think that I could give you a good crib note rundown. I can tell you that I do not think corporations should have the same rights as human beings. But that's just my personal opinion.

Ha! You're comment is funny! Yeah I wasn't thinking about it like that, from Dave's perspective. Yeah, you're right. Conan is funnier, but Jay is just more likeable for whatever reason.

I think I'll be joining you watching Conan. Jay just isn't that funny, and when I turn on a show like that I want to laugh.

I think you have a point. We ARE lucky as a nation. We have infrastructure. In the case of the Haitians, not only did they have a horrific event occur, but they have no ability to deal with it.

It's really scary and I'm glad we are helping them.
