I just picked up the Director's Cut on Blu-Ray yesterday for 20% (All the Virgin Megastores are closing and have good deals) I have to admit I just grabbed it cause I remember thinking it was awesome the last time I saw it and I didn't realize it was the director's cut until I read this post and checked. Now I'm stoked because I always loved the original movie, and if this cut is even better, then sweet. I can't wait to show it to my friends who haven't ever seen Dark City. I didn't love the flick either, but I couldn't honestly say I realized that the whole first hour was VFX and not makeup until I watched this TED talk. And overall what they have put forth in terms of technology is pretty advanced and quite remarkable. And if you think that could be accomplished with a few hours makeup, you're just wrong.
