I'm not trying to be "gender biased" here - but how come all these rules are aimed at women? Just curious...

My husband is a physicist and would agree with your numbers (re: universe 12-14 billion yrs; and Earth around 4 billion). I love asking my husband questions about space and time, and theory, and how it contridicts with his Catholic upbringing and education. (He got his degree at a Catholic university!) We have great conversations about this! I believe the Church now calls this "Intelligent Design" rather than Evolution, etc. Yes, the Big Bang did happen (at God's command) and while God created the heavens and the earth in 6 days (rested on the 7th) our "day" is different than God's "day." Our day is measured by the Earth's individual rotation, which takes 24 hours. Our year measured by Earth's orbit of our solar system's star, ie, Sun. I can only surmise, then, that God' definition of a "day" might be millions, or even billions, of years! So much fun to think about! :) I really wish I paid more attention during science class in High School.

I don't watch everything with filtered "conservative" glasses. And in general, I won't put a political spin on the entertainment shows I watch. I enjoyed it, simple as that. I even enjoyed watching the new series last night. Not sure what your counter-point is about.

Two days ago I was able to catch, on SYFY, the re-airing of the original V movie, and the mini-series. Wasn't as cheesy as I thought it would be, and I remember watching it as a youngster. I'm looking forward to the remake.

Big Hollywood : Pissing on Jesus: Hollywood Hates Us Exhibit 11,567

The Passion of the Christ is quite a powerful movie - and I recall, while a pre-teen, each year my little 'ole Baptist Church driving to Little Rock, AR {I think} to watch a professional play of it - Extremely powerful and stays with you. That said, I agree with you: there should be more Christian films, shows, etc; or at least movies and TV series that advocate Christian ways. The Left Behind series has a few of their books made into TV Movies that aren't too bad. The books are good. I liked those.

Big Hollywood : Kidman Worries About Treatment of Women While Representing the...UN?

Her goal is quite a noble one - just the wrong vehicle. As many of you know, Charity Donations always have some sort of red-tape involved. We can't just give money to them (would be nice) it has to go through organizations that "have their best interest at heart." blah blah blah, yeah yeah yeah. Organizations that are tied to governments, or are corrupted otherwise, and very little makes it to the intended recipients (if any at all) while the poachers (for lack of a better term) profit mightly. I admire those that want to help others (bashing this particular starlet does no good) and I wish we each personally had that pull (star celebrity power) to move things in our charitable corner. Advocating for something/someone brings attention to that situation. Just shedding light on the topic helps. Money does too, but money cannot solve all the world's problems (as we all well know from what our own govn't is doing).

I believe you are correct. One of our nurses recommended we keep our left-over Tamiflu bottle (after our toddler had swine flu late last month) - saying something to the effect that there will be a shortage very soon. Could have been just a precaution, though.
