Labor and big union pressing for higher taxes... how ironic. The 2 groups whom earn the most income for the least amount of work performed... Perhaps, they should consider working more hours to better align themselves with the reality of the majority of the "wealthy" they seek to take income from. The way to an efficacious and sustainable long-term economic future is better served by growing the revenue stream as the result of expanding it, not by demanding more from the current source. Continually consuming the resources that are currently available without thought of alternate sources and you will eventually run out of resource to use. This is a truism that can be applied to most anything.

Republicans need to remove religion from their agenda. While it is the minority of republicans that focus on religion and faith based policies; it alienates a large swath of voters. Republicans seem to be more logical, while democrats speak more emotionally. I believe that the logic and rationale of the republicans would be much more effective across a larger audience, if the republicans weren't shooting themselves in the feet with statements about abortion or God. It really doesn't matter what he was doing out at the time. Everyone has a right to ride a bicycle, whenever they feel inclined to do so. It is a sad testament to the state of our society when blame is placed on the victim because he was riding a bicycle at the wrong time of day. The police absolutely need to do more to contain the growing gang situation in Providence, the city is going down the tubes quickly. My condolences to this young mans family. I hope that there is justice for them.

I believe that the superintendent of Woonsocket has been on the job for less than a year, so it's doubtful the entire oneous lies on her. She probably relied on the information certified to her from the education departments accountant. Typically, that is the way it works, the superintendent only signs off on the budget as provided by the accountants, right? Also, the city council and mayor should be the one responsible, it is their duty to provide oversight and ensure that these types of issues do not happen. Incompetence all the way around. It's really funny that Woonsocket has no idea where the money went, yet they want the citizens to cough up another 5 million. LOL. hey we have no idea where we spent 10 million, but give us 5 million more and we promise not to lose it this time. What a joke.
