The Malaysian Insider : Main - Malaysia - Malaysia’s GDP surpasses expectations with 5.4pc growth @ Wed Aug 15 2012

GDP is calculated based on country's export, since there are many big foreign companies in malaysia. Thier higher export from Malaysia factories can greatly boost the GDP. So, GDP term is only use for political marketing purpose. However, it is GNI that matters as it only calculate what is really owned by Malaysian and Malaysian companies, i do not see any high increase of GNI. And any increase of GDP also unlikely benefit for the people as Inflation are higher than even GDP. (Which obviously ignored by BN for their press release)
