Simply, objectively not true that Captain America was a bad film. In fact, it was one of the best "superhero" movies yet. It took its time to develop its protagonist and build sympathy and complexity, was patriotic in a sweeping sense as well as a multiplicity of subtle ways highly evocative of 1940s films, had a fearsomely convincing villain in Hugo Weaving, elegantly blended in its special effects, had an apt score and sound design (moving, appropriate, reinforcing the story, never overbearing), was edited brilliantly, and had a surprisingly emotional and bittersweet ending. I was surprised and delighted by it, as I generally don't enjoy comic book adaptations. I'm finding a lot of sloppy and slash-and-burn writing on this site lately. It's disappointing.

Appreciate the response and mostly agree. I was really only speaking to the cattiness and illiberal spirit of the original piece. As far as I could tell her performance in Knocked Up was exceptional and professional insofar as serving the story and if she wanted to gripe about it afterwards (a rather tepid and not inaccurate gripe in my view), let's examine her comment on its merits and/or celebrate her outspokenness not condemn her to career purgatory.

Viewing Romney as more electable. Nothing in Romney's past or political personality suggests he's remotely suited or able to take on the Left (electoral history, debate performances, bizarre political maladroitness). Indeed, his misreading of the country's mood by trying to update McCain's 2008 moderate playbook for 2012 should be a disqualifier in and of itself. Beyond that, he's a walking caricature of the out-of-touch corporatist Wall Street Republican tool. He's NEVER demonstrated the wit or skill to finesse himself out of the attacks coming his way. He can't even finesse Teddy-bear Brett Baier. Coulter's occlusion here seems astonishing, considering she's made a name for herself by confronting the Left. She can't see how and why Romney will be disemboweled by Obama? But we shouldn't be surprised -- life in the Establishment often leads to such partial blindness. Or we could just put it down to the fact she's from New Canaan, CT -- the RINO mecca.
