True, but what if they could build a huge solar panel up there and beam the energy back down here?

Oh, I forgot, they already have one: the sun.

My dream is that we paint our roofs with solar paint. It powers the entire house; and the backup system will be we plug our smaller appliances (computer, battery recharger into potted plants that sit in the windows in winter.

JakPott needs to get out of town to see what Nature is capable of, and what industrial agricultural practice routinely destroys.

Until development scraped it off, this area used to be an amazing mix of native grasses.... most people are never going to get out of their cars to see these native grasses areas. We did a tour of sorts 3 weeks ago. It was amazing. The wet weather all around has made it one of the best years ever.

Industrial agriculture + irrigation = weeds (+ herbicides = even more weeds)

The more herbicides are applied, the worse the weeds are because herbicides destroy the soil organisms that feed the roots of plants. Maybe you've heard of "healthy soil = healthy plants"? Probably not because you haven't grasped this fundamental concept. Most people haven't, believing the "better living through chemistry" mantra.

Obviously they haven't tasted white dread's veggies. Had they done so "white dreads" would have been left off the list.

That's what probably killed him, that Obama continues Bush's ways with regards to military and putting the foxes to regulate the henhouse with SecAg Vilsack and Treasurer Tim Goldplater.

The FDA and USDA aren't going to give you answers either. They're paid for and have been for years. Did you not know that SecAg Vilsack is Monsanto's man?

GMOs in BPOS could very well be the beginning of the end of organic farming in Boulder County. What if GMO beets contaminate an organic farm's beet and they cross pollinate? Monsanto can take that farm to court and shut them down. They;ve been doing this the past few years in the Midwest; specifically shutting down small farms that are LLCs so that they can seize their assets more easily, something that is much tougher if the farm is a C corp.

Sorry, checking a field every two weeks for beet flowers? That's a recipe for disaster as beet flowers don't come up every two weeks. I know. I've grown beets and it takes 3-5 days for mine to flower.

I wonder if the farmers asked for the delay because they've been hearing it from other farmers. I hope so because look at this issue from business perspective: what do those who lease farms from BPOS have to lose? Nothing. What doe organic farmers have to lose? Their land and livelihood.

For me, when it comes to GMOs, whether they are safe or not isn't the issue at all. It's the actual daily operational practice and the long term damage done to the soil and ecosystem from GMO crops. You won't read it very much in US traditional media but just google superweeds to find out how GMO crops have created weeds with stems the size of baseball bats that are just tough as wood. Last week I was reading how one Georgia (US) cotton farm had to harvest their entire crop by hand because the palmer's pigweed was so big and so tough to pull or chop that it broke the harvester machine.

Bottom line: use of anything chemical on a farm destroys that lands number one asset: the soil, or what others call tilth. Nature abhors monocultures; pathogens love it. So the County commissioners have a very simple decision to make. It's not complicated as Domenico believes.

Does the Boulder County Commissioners allow their number one asset to be destroyed? The answer is no.
