I am no more surprised by the success of this movie than I am by the success of "American Sniper". The same demographic that's swooning over the big brave muslim killer are swooning over the big bad virgin-spanker.The aptly named Christian ("Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands as you do to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior. Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything."Ephesians 5:22-33) will be tamed by the virginal Anastasia, who will marry him in a church and bless him with a quiverful of children. Same conservative crap, different day.

I'm so sorry you lost your baby. I hope you got lots of love and support through your grief. And I hope people listen to you when you talk about your pain. Take Care.

Have you considered bringing a tazer gun with you? No one will die, and you can claim the Stand Your Ground defense. Or how about a gun that shoots blanks? Hah! By the time they realized they hadn't actually been shot, they'd have peed themselves - and you'd be well on your way.Harassers are such pathetic cowards. Please keep running. Every time your foot hits the pavement it's landing on their heads.

This applies to so many things. My first thought was of FGM, but it could also apply to breast augmentation or liposuction or the ways we castrate ourselves culturally and emotionally to fit in to society. Stunning.

Thank You for this. I agree that movies of all genres need to be made with people embodied in all colors, sizes, and gender identities. And I also think it is very important that stories of racist oppression be told. Selma was about racist oppression, but it was about much more. It was also a story about a marriage and a man. It was a story about strategic political brilliance and how real historic change is made. Selma was also about the Black Lives Matter movement today. There is no excuse for its being excluded from the highest recognition, and I believe its exclusion was an act of hostility. It sickens me. The Oscars have lost all credibility. Please write your movies Roxanne. Selma will be remembered long after whatever white male approved movie takes home the Oscar. Even the controversy surrounding it will be remembered for a longer time. Please don't let haters stop you. Somehow, I suspect you won't.

My father used to do this to me. The last time he did it was when I was 17, and he had followed me into the bathroom one night. I was wearing my night gown, he was leering and making small talk, and the game was to pretend that this was just friendly father-daughter banter.I gave him squirmy smiles and sweet replies, until I finally said "I'm going to pee my pants if you don't leave". He sneered and asked "Do you have any pants on under there?" My smile vanished, the pretense disappeared, the rage rose, and I said through clenched teeth "Get. Out." He backed off and muttered "Get a job if you're gonna act so grown up." My mother was awake in her room across the hall. My little brothers were downstairs watching tv. I sank to the floor and cried. My father was a popular football player in high school. All the guys loved him.Thank You for writing this article and helping me to feel less alone. Thank You.
