I am a bit confused here.....did you not make the comment "Thank you to these two sons of America, for their service and sacrifice for our nation and the children of our nation"? You sound like a poser flag waving American. Do you actually buy into your own BS? I am confused how a person can "support the troops" but be against the war. Kind of a contradiction don't yah think? Much like me, I imagine that a combat soldier returning from that hellhole might not share your opinion. I bet Memorial Day is nothing more than a 3-day weekend to you. Since you seem to assume I "need a shrink", and I am a "dork" who is "special", you' are now fair play for me. I presume that your not a veteran? Or maybe you were, but were a "rear-echelon commando"? Like you (I assume your being heartfelt in your opinion), I too feel the pain of hearing about all these boys dyeing. Also as you do, my heart goes out to the families. The military that I served in for 12 years is no longer recognizable. I hear more and more about atrocities being committed by our "professional" soldiers. I also know that many of these men and woman who return from garden spots like Afghanistan are committing suicide at record levels. (Last year 151 troops took their lives) It's a $hitty situation, BTW: I was not trying to have a "debate" with you; your comment (as you typed it), clearly implies that they died for this nation (oh yes, and the "children of our nation") explain that comment to me: Sounds like you copied some text from some old Soviet TASS news release regarding dead Soviet soldiers. Nice. Here's a thought: don't place these men on pedestals, and spout off the standard patriotic BS in their memory.

I agree! Thanks for sharing that. It seem that most of the comments made here are people who have swallowed a dumb$hit pill - Sacrifice? Defending Freedom? Sure, you bet

What sacrifice? They were killed in a country we have no business being in. (BTW; I m a former USAF WSO w/117 combat sorties). These men were cut down in the prime of their live. For what? Freedom? Who's freedom?

So lets see... an Afghan soldiers kills 4 foreign troops, right? He gets the death penalty. Our guys (supposedly the good guys), kill civilians (or "suspected" insurgents - I like that word), & then urinate on their corpses. They get reprimands and booted out of the service. I guess if your not white (I am BTW, and a former USAF weapons officer w/117 combat sorties to my credit), then your SOL. It seems to me that most of the US population has swallowed a big dumb$**** pill - we have lost our moral and ethical compass. We have no business in Afghanistan (was there in 1986 when the Russians were hosting the party). Back then I was part of a DOD mission helping mujaheddin freedom fighters. I still remember that the Afghans were very war y of our intentions (but they did like our Stinger sams.) Lets do the sensible thing; GTFO, downsize our bloated industrial/military complex and put that $ into rebuilding America, rather than paying for a war. We can't have it all; if you want war (currently, the US has forces deployed in 150 countries), it takes $.

Exactly! Already filled with subsidized lazy people who give a rats a$$ about keeping things up. Maybe we should build them new quarters, so they can turn it into a $hitho!e. Funny; the WSDOT and SDOT constantly vacate the urban outdoor camper (homeless) sites, spend tons of cash for the labor and disposal of all the trash these people generate (and apparently can't do it themselves). When everything is cleaned up, the process is repeated. Nice, Huh?

Real news is so much funnier than than reading The Onion - I mean really? On Komo's main page, there is this story, and a story about how the state is trying to tax rolled cigarettes - " Roll-your-own cigarette machines may be out of business for good, just as Washington state was looking to tax them". The best is this: " In that story, " Department of Revenue spokesman Mike Gowrylow says officials don't believe the shutdowns will impact the state's finances. They expect many users of roll-your-own machines to start buying regular cigarettes".

This story, and the other story show how truly tarded our leadership is, locally and state. Yes, I get it, second-hand smoke is bad. But hey, I didn't know this is such a concern; I thought there are more pressing matters. If this is all about enjoying clean healthy living, why not add alcohol to the list. Oh yeah, one more thing; King County evidently has dough to spend on signage to inform you of the ban. What a damn joke . Had enough? I think all of us need to get our butts in gear, get organized, and clean house.

The FY2011 budget for affordable housing (a variety of sources) was $88 Million. That's a lot of cheese. Maybe we could have used that money for something more beneficial, say, more teachers, or upping their pay; maybe spend the money by reducing the amount it costs to park downtown - this would benefit the consumer, and the business owners. Maybe improve roads, create more bike lanes - I have a silly question; why is so much money being spent on affordable housing? Who's this all for? Hell yeah I I would like to pay less; I work hard, how can I sign up for subsidized housing? Maybe I should be less responsible; more reckless. Maybe I should take up serious drinking - I hear I can do this all day, and not worry about rent; or maybe, I just make a few really bad choices and I could get some of this pie. I am angry with this; It's one thing to have this for people who truly need it, but unfortunately, "who needs it" is a broad definition, depending on who you ask. If you ask me, there are way too many people who do not need it. That's my opinion. People are never motivated to improve their situation when they are given things (like affordable housing): There is no incentive to work harder, because if you do, you lose the subsidized housing! Guess what? We have been developing a new lower class for years with this sort of thing. The idealism that created things like affordable housing have done more harm than good. This new permanent lower class see's no need to excel, or improve things - why disturb the status quo? This will get worse, not better. Personal responsibility needs to be the rule rather than the exception.

Sounds reasonable what you write - this should also apply when the story is involves a man
