I am not implying that. I misread your comment and intent. I am a little sensitive to comments about truckers. My husand drive truck and so many times they are made out to be the villian in wrecks even if the fault is not theirs. I apologize if you took offense.

Are you implying that the semi-driver would not be innocent in that situation? I believe he would be and innocent victim also. Or is delivering the goods we all use a crime?

GazetteOnline.com : Honor troops who took a beating, didn't quit

I realize that Hawk football is not "just a game" to its fans. What I am saying is that it is a shame that people put so much stock in something so trivial. I believe he was trying to promote the Hawks his last sentence appears to state that he is upset by the way the media has treated the Hawks, and have not given them there proper due. I think the media is more then fair with the Hawks. If only they would praise veterans as much.

I can't imagine ever thinking that a football player is even comparable to a soldier in any way. They risk almost nothing and get awarded greatly to play a GAME. A soldier risks everything and gets very little in return. We even take better care of an injured football player then we do our injured veterans. It is a sad state of affairs.

When I started reading this I thought it was a fitting tribute to the fallen at Omaha beach, the last paragraph made me want to retch. How could anyone possibly compare a bunch of kids playing a GAME to the sacrifices made in BATTLE. The worst that can happen on a foot ball field is a broken neck. The injuries on the beach that day were life ending. The outcome of a football game is nothing compared to what a loss on Omaha beach would have cost. We as a society put to much emphasis on GAMES and not enough on what really matters. If only our soldiers were paid as well and held as high as our athletes and our generals as well as our coaches.
