MetsBlog.com : Health: Pelfrey's Forearm, Now What?

I understand that the perception is that the training staff has dropped the ball...but honestly concussions are so hard to treat...and Church could have just said he felt fine...I guess we will never know. I'm sure handling tendonitis with a pitcher can be handled much more conventionally since it's symptoms and cures are well known and documented

Wouldn't that be an unnecessary overload on Stokes this early on in the season? If it's only one game it probably wouldn't hurt to just call someone up

so what is the process with getting him to the MLs then (I have to admit I am not very up on the process). Do they have to purchase the contract from Buffalo? Is there anyway to get him to the Majors without him having to pass through waivers?

Unlike in years past we do have some depth now...so Pelf can afford to miss 2 or 3 starts...thankfully it looks like they caught it early.

Oh, ok so it would be a lot easier to bring up a guy with options. Got it.

Instead of letting him start can't they have him pitch an extra side session or something? I mean I understand that it makes sense not to wait a week but would it be a good idea for them to bring up Niese or Gee this soon?

What about Figgy? He could probably get through 6 innings and atleast keep the Mets in the game. He looked good in ST

Maybe this is what Dan Warthen, Jerry and Ollie discussed between starts...concentrating on keeping hitters off balance rather than just blow fastballs by them?

MetsBlog.com : News: Minaya and Mets have money to Spend

If Pelfrey is hurt...then they have to take a long, long look at Pedro...I think he can bring some energy to this team not to mention he would basically be pitching on borrowed time. This also would take pressure off the Nieses and Gees of the world.

MetsBlog.com : News: Sheffield should play Tonight

I wouldn't say that this goes completely counter to Jerry's philosophy. What if he starts Sheff instead of Murphy tonight instead...just to get a new lineup out there? I would be interested to see how Castillo hits in the two hole for a couple of nights. It can't hurt to try this once early on.As far as Church goes, you're right. He does need to be out there simply because of his glove. How can you say this is going against winning? It's just something different
