Something is wrong, when i try to install a package from cydia it goes through the install process normally, but the package does not show up on my spring board ( I have tried this with all kinds of packages including winterboard and terminal) what am I doing wrong?

Thanks :) don't want to lose peggle data and keeping gpsphone saves would be nice. One more thing (sorry I really messed this up last time) can I restore os 3,0 from a 2.2.1 backup without downgrading my os?

Okay, before I do ANYTHING I want to be certain of a few things:
1: Redsn0w is essentialy quickpwn 3.0
And
2: how can I update to 3.0 without loosing any data from both jailbroken and un-jailbroken apps?
