The Equity Kicker : Enterprise2.0 - McKinsey reports it is starting to work

For me, as Twitter is almost the bellweather of Social Media Retail (man on the street), GetSatisfaction is for me the Bellweather of E2.0 (surprise). And they still "have to crack it", IMHO. But is the business model innovation there that is compelling, not the technology, as you point out.

I guess the "look and feel" of the OS is what you are talking about here: but is there any distinct functionality that would make you go, I have to have an apple, because only apple can do that? (seriously, I'd like to know!)

I have been hovering, hovering, hovering over the purchase of an Apple Pro. When compared against the Dell or Acer I don't seem to come out well on any of the "utility or power" factors. Apple is selling "cool" IMHO. Brining down the price, just brings down the price of the cool. I agree that the pricing issue will come more to the fore now with the downturn.

Feld Thoughts : Palin in Church

Outsider point of view here: the degree to which it seems "acceptable" that a persons religious beliefs should be so center stage is "remarkable". In Ireland/ Spain/ Italy the church and state have been hand in hand, and very often not for the public civic good. Tony Blair pushed it out there a bit as well. Everyone understands that people have private beliefs, but they cannot be allowed to dictate civic debate and policy. IMHO.

VC Adventure : Leave your ego at the door

"respect your opponent, for he teaches you limits": The type of kick boxing you are attempting here is very very difficult, very intense. Without getting all hippy on you, you might try some traditional wu-shu (kung fu), and tai-chi. They could also teach you about balance, movement, keep you fit, but are sustainable (which I humbly suggest thai boxing may not be after a certain point). I could be wrong. A family friend is a tai-chi teacher, and she speaks about your standing and stance, as a "platform", a "base" for all other movements. mmm, rings some bells....

Don Dodge on The Next Big Thing : First Mover vs Fast Follower - Who wins?

I think London Business School did a big piece of work here http://www.amazon.co.uk/review/product/0787971545...you might also have a look back at that old chestnut the Japanese Automotive Industry. The ability to shift quickly to different models and iterations was the key difference, in its way, an example of better "environmental fit". Recent conversations by Umair over on the HBR blog, are i believe talking about similar themes, when he talks about "companies as inefficient" mechanisms for participating in markets. Perhaps, just perhaps :) fast followers all have a deeper insight into the fundamental economics that drive the market, and this wins. From some of the examples above, many companies saw the "new wave" based on "the new insight", but were just unable to let go of the old economics/platform/etc because "a bird in the hand, is worth two in the bush" :)

Oh yeah (insert homer simpson duh here). I guess I am just used to hitting the button where I usually see it. I don't tend to do things from the url line or even my own embedded apps, unless that app pushes options on me: thus Sxipper is great.

Given your recent good experience with Twitterfone doesn't it open out the possibility of voice activated services for in-car usage? In Ireland, I think the government are leaning towards banning all call conversations, even handsfree, though how they would implement god only knows.

The same thing is happening in the UK and Ireland. More and more autism was being diagnosed, and it got into the popular consiousness that it was related to the vaccine, ergo.... it's like blackbag opps; the first big bad story you get out, gets believed, and remembered.
