GazetteOnline.com : Pop v. Soda v. Coke

The "other" responses are a result of a variety of unique and obscure responses due to this being an "online" survey that allowed a free form text field. Here is a link to the Iowa responses to this survey. I highly doubt that "Kyle McBride for Dike is really Cool and if anyone from Dike see this, please tell me!" is a valid response for this question. http://popvssoda.com/stats/IA.html I posted the link to this in my Twitter feed last week. I still thought it was interesting even if its not very scientific. I also had a few good laughs looking at the responses.

Really? A great story about a family sending three loved ones off to war and these are the comments? Wow. Regardless of my opinion of the war, I'd like to thank this family for their service. I hope for a safe return for all involved.

GazetteOnline.com : Iowa politicians ready to fight, fight, fight for Iowa, Iowa State

Knowing that Iowa and Iowa State is still on the schedule for years to come, having Iowa State in a weaker conference hurts Iowa. At least, thats what I think the argument is, which is debatable. Especially when we are potentially adding some more interesting schools to the mix.

GazetteOnline.com : Hiawatha fuming over Corbett ‘giveaway’ to get company

Arunas Chesonis (CEO of PAETEC) has stated in the past the possibility of moving to downtown Cedar Rapids. The reasoning was to be able to have the possibility of being in the middle of businesses and providing telephone service within the downtown area. IE: Having a greater presence and building relationships. If I recall correctly, PAETEC still has a DMS switch inside the "Tech Core" of the old building out on C Street (Aegon). I don't know if they extended the contract to stay there or if they are planning on moving those facilities. If PAETEC was looking to get a deal, now might be a great time to move.

PaulNus.com : Content Genome Project

Chuck, Thank you for pointing out Stijn's post, what an amazing article. I whole-heartedly agree with what was being conveyed from what I've read so far. I'm just going to have to find more time at home to read through all the parts. There is a lot of information to think about and mull over. I guess I dislike the term "mobile first" then for the purpose its serving. We need to get to a point where we can actually focus on building interfaces for different devices. We can't begin to do that without building out the structured content. This does not hinge on mobile devices. I can't think of a single reason we wouldn't continue with restructuring content regardless of the device. It's just really confusing for this simple minded guy.

Ok, I have a question. Why did Monica Vernon abstain from this discussion and not prior ones? If she thought there was a conflict of interest there then she should have realized that prior to this. Its my understanding that she was a backer of this when it originally came up. If she didn't think there was a conflict of interest, then I'd really like to get her on record to of what she would have voted. If she votes no, then she basically goes against her research firm. If she votes yes, then she is involved in the wasteful spending of our tax dollars.
