I do not work for FedEx, actually. Please don't make assumptions. If you read my previous comments or my profile for Intense Debate, you'd see that I'm a student in Las Vegas, NV whose permanent residence is in Springfield. I choose to keep up with the happenings there. And yes, I would be okay with that, because it is a company policy as well as a safety concern.

I keep reading because I think that KY3 is the best news source in SWMO. I only live in Springfield 2-4 months out of the year, but grew up there. I like to still be an active citizen in the community from which I come, and therefore I get my news from KYTV. Thanks.

Yes! Did anyone think that she may not be able to wear jewelry because she works around machinery and it may be a safety hazard! Good call sloehand.

Yes, it was. KY3 seems to form their stories into a slanted viewpoint quite a bit these days.

And again, I repeat, this is not a news story, this is a personal story. I think that's why so many people are saying she's milking it, because someone had to contact KY3 (the name of the segment) to inform them and go on air with them about what's going on.

It's not guaranteed when it's a private business. If she didn't like it she could have left, but she signed a legal agreement saying she would not wear that kind of stuff. Her fault. Your comment is invalid.

No, the ACLU will not be there. This is a private company where the woman had previously legally agreed to abide by their policies. Don't be so judgmental. This isn't a matter where the company is doing something horribly wrong against human rights. Their protecting fairness to all by providing a limited code that promotes none. It's pretty plain and simple.

I guess, if I open my mind a bit more than I seem to have, this could be a concern of someone who submitted an idea to Contact KY3 (which is Cara's job), but I think what I mean to say is that better discretion on choosing something of importance should have been used before posting this.

If she signed in agreement to the policy when she was hired, then it is no problem for FedEx to place her on leave for not complying. I can see where she is coming from, but unfortunately, she had previously agreed to their policy. I believe FedEx is in the right here. I'm also not sure why this is a news article? This is a personal story, not news.

Wow! What a horribly embarrassing reasoning put forth by that salon owner. It is wonderful that Betty is able to make responsible decisions as an adult. It seems, though, that she takes the same view Touch of Sun does, which is very irresponsible. I think the few lives it may save because the additional signage did mean something to those few people make it worth it. And Brian, if you're going to knowingly operate a potentially life threatening business, you should be prepared for this kind of thing...and since, as you say, it's not going to mean anything, then why worry yourself about it...none of your customers will leave, right? Phtt.

I contacted McCaskill and received a timely response, both electronically and in postal mail. I let her know where I stand on the issue, and was responded to in a manner that politely told me that the senator would be considering all of the information she's receiving from the constituents in her vote. Also, I think the majority public is too stupid and not well informed enough to make a responsible decision on their own stance. How many people do you think have written their representatives such as you and I have? Probably not many. It is disappointing that it was not on C-SPAN.

I suppose not enough people told their officials their opinions. Also, if Americans do not like it, they will elect officials who will vote differently next time.
