Those ultra rich must have really suffered through the best economic time in our lives, under Clinton. What many conservatives don't seem to understand about their own mantra is that the Laffer curve is actually a curve. It has an equilibrium point, and cutting taxes when you're to the right of that equilibrium point will indeed improve revenue. Conservatives like to take this half truth and run with it. What they don't understand, though, is that tax cuts below that point do more harm than good to revenue. Hence the Laffer curve being a curve and not a straight line. Reagan's massive tax cuts took us from the right-hand side of the Laffer curve to the left-hand side of the Laffer curve, and Clinton's hikes brought us closer to the equilibrium point again. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Laffer_curve
