This is just a quick question.(I know that this might not be the correct forum to post this, but please crave my indulgence) Would you know of any other app other than BlackRa1n that will allow me to jailbreak an Ipod Touch 3g (64GB). The problem that I seem to be having is that one always has to perform a tethered jailbreak in the evet that the battery of an Ipod 3G runs down or if you power off the device. I need a proper jailbreak that keep

Try this.(See below) I hope it helps. Get the file com.apple.carrier.plist found at /var/root/Library/Preferences/ and edit the key ShowCallForwarding to be <false/>.

If you are jailbreaking 3GS, I dont think you will have much luck, due to the fact that Apple have disable code signing. Try getting into with Saurik, or MuscleNerd (via twitter) as they might be able to give you better advice as to what next to do. Best Regards

Unfortunately, there is currently no Jailbreak software available for OS 3.1 at the moment, we are all waiting for the DEV team to release the JB software once its ready. I'm afraid, you will have to wait or try downgrading to 3.0 (although your baseband would have already been upgraded since you tried jailbreaking to 3.1 and this would render the phone virtually unusable) I am guessing that within the next couple of weeks (fingers crossed) the DevTeam will release the JB Software for 3.1. At the moment, I dont think there is much you can do (in terms of getting JailBreak to work) considering that your Baseband has been upgraded. Again, I suggest that you try downgrading to OS 3.0. Good luck

Yes you can jailbreak and unlock it. It will work. You need redsn0w to jailbreak and ultrasn0w to unlock. I recently bought an Iphone 3GS from the UK and Jb'ed and unlocked. It now works perfectly will my service provider sim.

Why are you jailbreaking with Quickpwn when the dev team have released redsn0w. From what I gather redsn0w has replaced and superceded Quickpwn. Try downloading redsn0w from the dev team torrent site. If you scroll up this page and look on the left you should see official torrents under Team links. Good luck. I hope this helps

When you jailbreak your firmware using redsn0w select only Cydia. Do not select Cydia & Icy. I came accross such an issue earlier this morning. If you do select both, what happens is that when you go into Cydia and try to perform the essential updates, the updates will fail and Cydia will not install properly. I hope this helps

Get Winpwn and prepare to downgrade to a lesser version of firmware eg: 2.0.2. Put Winpwn in custom mode so that it builds a custom firmware. If done correctly, after building Winpwn will access your Iphone and put into dfu mode (during this process you should see a white screen). During this processes Winpwn might crap out, however your Iphone would have been flashed and the white screen should still remain. Hook up your Iphone to Itunes and perform a restore using the 2.0.2 firmware. All things being equal you should be able to upgrade. Good luck

I feel I should share this with novices like myself. When trying to install the new 3.0 firmware, DO NOT PERFORM A RESTORE. PERFORM AN UPGRADE !!!! I erroneously performed a restore and my Iphone got bricked. To resolve the bricked problem, I used Winpwn version 2.5 to flash the Iphone and installed Firmware version 2.0.2. Once I got 2.0.2 firmware installed, then I upgraded successfully to 3.0 (using Itunes). I then jailbroke the firmware using redsn0w (successfully) PS: DO NOT select both Cydia and Icy together when jailbreaking, I noticed that when Cydia is trying to run the Essential updates you run into some problems and Cydia does not install properly. I hope that this helps some of you guys out there. Enjoy. and Thanks a million to the Dev team, you are all great.
